Rangers aren't trading Lafreniere. They might consider if a C of his potential was coming back on the other hand.

Once the toews and Kane deals expire it won't really hurt the hawks. Wether you like him or not he is a #1 Dman. Not the best in the league but a ton better than what they had without him.

Swap for Kappo then but leaves a hole in your top 6 RW albeit Kane is a better RW with Kappo this year and next

Don't need to move Jones in order to rebuild. He's only 27 and he's playing well again, easily a first liner on almost all teams. Is he overpaid next year when his extension kicks in? Yes, by about $1M to $1.5M but that doesn't mean they should move him as cap space isn't a big concern during a rebuild.

Probably best if we didn't trade our 2 top guys?

I think the value in all these deals is on point or even favoring the other team (depending on how you value Laf and Holloway), but I think it is very unlikley that holloway gets moved from EDM as well as Laf and Kakko from the NYR. Those teams are going to need those guys to contribute while they are cheap if they want to contend. I've started to suggest possibly Boiurgault in a deal with the Oilers or a rangers deal being build on Lundqvist+kravtsov. I would prefer your deals above but I just don't think its realistic. The bottom line is the hawks are going to have to draft well to get out of this hole they are in.

There was no intended insult. Kane is a great player, there is just no way the Rangers give up that much for him.

Well Kane gives the Rangers a better shot at the cup then either player this season or next. Depends what the Rangers want. If they are going to chase the cup this season and next, then it makes sense. If they are going to be patient and hope for a cup down the road then fair enough. Some teams want to strike when the iron is hot and right now it's hot for the Rangers.

The Rangers haven't made the playoffs since starting the rebuild several years ago, and while they are off to a good start and playing pretty well, it would be a stretch to think they have a legit shot at winning the cup this year, with or without a player like Kane. They are making good progress and are still a very young team, so trading their 1st ever top overall draft pick for 1.5 years of an aging Kane makes zero sense for them. Laffy will be good for them for 10+ years, so he isn't going anywhere.

I don't know. I think the Rangers are a legitimate threat for the cup. I'd place them somewhere around #5 to #7 which makes any moves to 'chase' arguable. I think there are certainly valid arguments either way. Be it Laffy or Kappo, a trade for Kane upgrades the winger position for the next 1.5 years there is no denying that at the cost of the future potentially assuming either one would reach their potential.

That's a terrible evaluation by you. So you don't think Laffy and Holloway are better then some late first rounders which have a 33% chance of even reaching the NHL? C'mon man
