Words can’t describe how happy I’d be if the Sharks somehow got Vlasic off the books.

But there are 3 main issues here:

a) I highly doubt the wings want to touch one of the worst contracts in the league for the next 5 years. That would require an insane amount of compensation.

b) The Sharks shouldn’t and won’t be willing to pay the price to dump Vlasic cause it would be multiple firsts expensive and that’s simply not worth it

c) even if a deal could be worked out Vlasic would use his NMC to block the trade immediately.

I would say that there are likely only 2 destinations for Gardiner to end up, and those would be either Detroit or NY Islanders. I would say the Isles have a bigger need for a puck moving LHD than the Wings, so Canes might be able to get something for him. Although if he goes for free I would not mind that terribly. Smith you would likely have to pay for. Same goes for Nemerh, Martinez, and especially Dillon. Matheson is on the edge here, where he is just good enough not to be a cap dump, so I think the pens would get something in return. Vlasic would have to be dumped with about 2 firsts, as his contract is one of the leagues worst contracts. Scandella either comes for free or like a 6th.

The only players on your list that would be cap jettison moves would be Martinez, Scandella, Vlasic, and possibly Gardiner.

I could see a deal with st louis happening. They want to upgrade the d for the playoffs so a deal where we send Leddy to them for Scandella and a pick may make sense. Honestly i doubt they go looking for any ld help now and Yzerman punts it to the offseason.

Ordinarily, no he's not. In Vegas' situation, absolutely yes. NOBODY should go giving Vegas anywhere near full value on any trade that helps their cap situation.

Idk if the Jets will trade Dillon but I'd move him, he's been solid and what they needed on the backend but the Jets need to go in a different direction imo, would hope to get a 2nd for him, maybe another late round pick too like a 7th.

If the Kane termination goes down without an issue then Sharks can use their buyout on Vlasic this offseason.
