You ain’t getting either for a bottom pairing d man or a first. A second and a late pick is what you’ll get.

What are you not getting at
1. Chiarot isn’t a bottom pairing dman, only on Playstation
2. Friedman and LeBrun reported Chiarot will bring a 1st RD pick at the TDL

Habs won't get any of these prospects in the Chiarot trade because Denisenko/Samoskevich/etc were all higher 1st rounders whose value has continued to increase or at the very least stayed the same. Saying a 1st round pick is too ambiguous. Connor McDavid was a 1st round pick, can the Habs get him? Kaiden Guhle was a 1st rounder, could the Habs get that kind of player? So just saying Chiarot is worth a 1st rounder is too ambiguous. Need to be more specific. Its a LATE 1st round pick and its probably a pick, not a prospect.

A 1st round pick" in value does not mean any prospect taken in the 1st round previously and when Friedman/Dreger/etc say 1st round pick, it is mostly implied that it will be a team that is projected to finish high in the standings. So Chiarots value is somewhere along the lines of the 28-32nd OV pick in this years draft. If that team just happens to suck and go out in the first round, thats just gravy for the Habs but that doesn't mean Chiarot is now worth the 18 OV pick. He's still only worth the very late 1st. (That's also assuming the Habs retain 50% which is a prerequisite to any Chiarot trade)

The Savard trade is the template here guys, whether you think Chiarot is better or not. Late 1st and a 3rd/4th. Maybe if there is enough overbidding by teams a lesser prospect will be lumped in also.

The best return the Habs will get will be trading Chiarot to the team that has the least chance at going far in the playoffs.

Yeah he’s definitely not playing above weegar ekblad montour forsling on this teams pairings. So bottom pairing d man. He is not worth a first in any life time but someone will over pay and give a first and a third no way are they getting a high end prospect and a pick. So you’re right about the first. Panthers dont have a first this year so I doubt they are trading next years at this deadline.

Now there's the error in your values, you're not saying he's a bottom pairing defender, you're saying he will be on your team because you already have four better options which puts him on your third pair. Do the same exercise with Edmonton, is he playing behind Nurse? Yes. Bouchard? Likely as he's a natural RD. Is he playing behind Keith, Lagesson or Koekkoek? Likely not. So following your process Chiarot is a second pairing defender. Coming back to your team, if Weegar breaks a leg just before the playoff and Montour is ill for a couple of games in the first round, does Chiarot automatically becomes a top four because you don't have those players now? Don't mix up the value he'll have on your team because of good depth versus the average (League wide) positional value (Not talking trade value here).

Exactly, people automatically think 'top 20' when a first rounder is traded but in this case it's very likely a late rounder which has about the same value as an early 2nd yet because guys are seeing "1" in the trade offer they go nuts. Late first rounders are getting thrown around every year at TDL, this one will be no different.

I watched a lot of the Panthers and Chiarot is MILES better than Montour who sucks and Forsling isn’t a difference maker. Chiarot would have way more ice time then Forsling & Montour

I doubt we could get Puutio added but if we could I'd be super pumped. Kids good but Im pretty sure FLA knows that too.
