My Preferred TDL

Created by: Jrader17
Team: 2021-22 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2022
Published: Jan. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
ARI
  1. Mahura, Josh
  2. McTavish, Mason
  3. Pastujov, Sasha
  4. 2022 1st round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Pick is top 10 protected in 2022, if it doesn't vest then it's top 1 protected in 2023 (cause Bedard), if it doesn't vest than it's unprotected in 2024
2.
ARI
  1. Chytil, Filip
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
NYR
  1. Kessel, Phil ($3,400,000 retained)
3.
ARI
  1. Hållander, Filip
  2. Riikola, Juuso
  3. Zucker, Jason
  4. 2022 2nd round pick (PIT)
  5. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Assuming Arizona isn't on Zucker's no trade list. AZ helps out Pitt by taking a big ticket off their hands, freeing up cap space to see another upgrade with trade elsewhere (or just helping to resign Rust) .. Coyotes have already noted that they are willing to do this at the TDL. - That's the 2nd rounder part of this deal.

Larsson is a defensive monster, has more offense in him than people realize. Perfect playoff player (even though he's never gotten the chance to show it, being in Buf/AZ his whole career) - That's the Hallander, Riikola (is included to make salaries work also he'd at least play in AZ) 3rd part of the deal.
4.
ARI
  1. 2022 5th round pick (CAR)
5.
ARI
  1. Brännström, Erik
Additional Details:
#FreeErikBrannstrom
OTT
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (PIT)
6.
ARI
  1. Fortier, Gabriel
  2. Sustr, Andrej
  3. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Sustr is in there for salary purposes.

Crouse is 17 points (9 G 8 A) in 32 games played. 24 year's old, under team control as an RFA, ultra physical, responsive defensively.

Barclay Goodrow at the time of his trade to TB.. 24 points (8 G, 16 A) in 62 games..... 26 year's old, under team control, ultra physical, responsive defensively.

It makes too much sense.

People are fooling themselves if they don't think the Coyotes are getting a 1st and a prospect for Crouse, whether it be from Tampa or anywhere else.

He'd be great in Tampa, also he's a wonderful person and I'd like to see him win.

The Ducks are 100% not in a position to give up a package of that magnitude for one player. We're at least a year and a half away from trades like that (If everything goes smoothly, which it rarely if ever does)

Rangers decline. Already too weak at center to give up Chytil without getting one in return

Would just make 100 times more sense to just re-sign Hampus in Anaheim, rather than trading the farm for a player who (I really like, but...) doesn't fill a major need.

Just wanted to point out that Goodrow didn’t get a 1st and a prospect. He was traded with a 3rd for a 1st. Essentially he was the cost to move up from the 3rd round to the 1st. I’d be surprised if Crouse netted as much as you have him going for.

Brannstrom on the other hand could 100% be had for two 2nds.

I disagree. Chychrun is a win now and later move, given his age and reasonable cap hit. Even with the assets going out the Ducks still have a loaded pipeline. Mahura doesn't play (despite that I think he's good).. even with this trade the Ducks are still loaded with Zellweger, BOG, and Perreault on the way. Chrychrun is also insurance for if Lindholm walks at the end of the year (also Lindholm is gonna ask for $6 mil plus AAV, so replacing him with an equal to higher ceiling player for 4.6). Anything is possible for this team when Gibson is on his game and top 4 going into this year's playoffs of Chychrun, Lindholm, Fowler, Drysdale is great. IDK, i think it makes tons of sense.

Chytil has totally flopped as a center and is in the dog house? Rangers down the middle have Mika, Strome, and Goodrow? I'd argue they are strong. They have no established top 6 RW.. Phil can still really play and he's a proven playoff performer.. I think he'd really help the Rangers and makes lots of sense

2 2nds for a dude yall refuse to play? C'mon. I overpaid to force Ottawa's hand. With Bernard-Docker, Sanderson on the way, Chabot established and players like Zub (underrated) and the Sentators weird obsession with Zaitsev, I don't see a world where they say no to this.

Does it make sense to resign a soon to be 28 year old who is gonna ask for at least $6M AAV, over adding a 23 year old with a higher ceiling and 4.6 hit for the next 3 years? I don't think that makes more sense.

You're neglecting a few pretty big factors here though...If you re-sign Hampus, you:
-Aren't trading away your top prospect (Drysdale/Zegras not included).
-Aren't trading away your 2022 1st, which will help to continue to stock the farm.
-Aren't trading away a boom or bust prospect in Pastujov.
-I was going to say something about Mahura, but meh. You can have him.

Basically, you aren't taking the top end of your farm system to fill a hole that doesn't exist if you just re-sign Hampus.

And I have one little thing to add. People talk about Chychrun being part of our entire future as if he has 7 years left on his contract. He's got three more seasons before he's a UFA, and I don't think that we'll be serious Stanley Cup contenders either this year or next, so we're talking about a two-year window here. Now, I think Chychrun is worth a lot, but not Zegras or McTavish or Terry or Drysdale, and I'm not too keen about packaging Pastujov or Perreault with our 2022 first, either; if we do, there shouldn't be another highly significant asset (i.e., Comtois or Lundestrom) included in the deal. Zellweger I can do without.
