Created by: gstamp91
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2022
Published: Jan. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Miller plays 2nd pair with Muzzin, giving him a mobile RH partner that isn't afraid to play the body and has started being on the PK in the last couple years after being a PP guy before that. Miller is a SSM Alum, so naturally Dubas will be interested. Allows the leafs to move holl to the 3rd pair as well. Anderson is there as Hutchinson insurance. Come playoff time, leafs can move Ritchie back on to the regular roster and take Clifford's spot.

Looks good to me. Our left Def pipeline is pretty full but we can also flip dermott or hang onto him and trade Hagg maybe.

Your not going to have to move that much cap out to get Miller, who I would also like. Cap Friendly does not show daily cap hits, as of today Miller is : Remaining Daily Cap Hit : 2.09M, so even if you got 50% retention on that he would be very easy to fit in. Even more so if the Leafs wait till the TDL. I could see Dubas going after him also.

As it sits right now the leafs could aquire a player like miller without trading any salary. Cap friendly doesnt give 100% accurate salary figures for each teams situation its just a great resource reference. Miller is 100% a player the Leafs will call about however a 2nd or the 3rd + B level prospect would probably get it done. Dermott and Engvall are both everyday NHL players for the Leafs. They have more value then fans realize.

I guess the Leafs have to decide whether trading two current NHLers....Dermot and Engvall (with term) is worth one Miller. Certainly makes LW more shaky if depending on Clifford and Ritchie.
And really does it help the defence that much?

It at the very least balances the D out more from a L/R perspective with a guy who plays around 19/20 mins and has been to a SCF. I think it would be worth a go.

Sabre fan here. As written the trade is tilted to the Sabres.
I like both Dermott and Engvall, but Buffalo is flush with LW and LHD.
Leaf fans are correct, do not trade them.
I like Miller and Anderson, at the TDL IMO Karmanos would accept a 2nd for the pair.
