It's a solid start but I think DAL would want a roster player like Rutta or Joseph coming as well. Tampa is over the cap even with DET retaining a million too, so including a roster player is close to a must for them.

I think Rutta going back makes it such that Detroit doesn't need to be involved, no?

Meanwhile I'll sit here and wonder how Holland gets the Oilers to the playoffs as the Lightning contemplate a three-peat. Checkers and chess honestly. Dammit.

Detroit isn't retaining for an average prospect and a late pick. Pass.

Holland should be after guys like Chychrun, Kessel, Fleury, Crouse. I don’t know what he’s waiting for

Don't think so. The post is $1,3M over the cap now and it doesn't count the $1,062M relief TB gets from the double retention. They'd need to clear at least $300k of cap I think.

Those are the two main pieces I would want. I feel like there would need to be other pieces and parts to make it work like boss said

Best case scenario for Dallas, Klingberg extended for Carlo but likelihood probably super low

Yzerman retained more for less last year.Tb will take Lashoff off Detroit's hands and again lend him to the Griffens

There’s a lot of options I’m good with. Just don’t want to lose him for nothing because our dumb front office still thinks this team/coach is good enough

Trading him is def the best option . If they can get some good picks for Klingberg , Radulov and Pavelski, they can move on with a youth movement and build around those players .

That's fair, but picks have more value, since teams get to take their own guy. Unless there is a prospect Yzerman is very high on in TB's system, that he drafted, I think he'd rather have a 2nd round pick of his own in the 2022 draft if he's going to buy assets. There's also the fact that we only have 2 retention spots left after Panik, so we need to use them wisely.

See above. Rather have a pick than a "meh" prospect... he's still young enough, that he could turn into more, but seems to really be struggling in the AHL this year...

They basically did the same thing for Tampa last year

4th round pick is a lot better than a 6th though... I didn't love the return on that one last season either to be honest... I thought it should have been at least a 3rd... I also think Detroit is a lot closer this year and at some point, we're going to start losing guys for nothing if we don't promote them due to all the picks we've had over the last several years, so I don't know if burying even more "project" draft picks in the system makes a ton of sense for us. From my perspective, I don't even want Detroit adding more picks, unless it's a 3rd or higher. The number of guys that hit after the 3rd just plummets off a cliff.... even the 3rd is dicey at best...

Best from Tampa should be something like Rutta, 1st, one of Joseph/Raddysh/Katchouk for Klingberg@50%. Tampa could then get the double retention and have enough room to still run 22. Tampa should not be moving Foote for a rental they cannot keep unless they already have a new deal with Rutta in principle, and even then it's not a great move given Foote's age and number of years of team control left for Tampa.

They retained more for less but I'd be happier personally if they didn't I think it's not wise to do.
