Little bit of cap security for a team with almost none of it

Good deal. Don't love 3 years, but he's very solid. Definition of a low event Dman.

I mean, Merill in Montreal wasn't great but he seems to be doing decent in Minny, with that term, I'd maybe have prefered less AAV but seems good enough

The only place where he wasn't good is MTL it seems. Good for him on securing a three-year deal.

He was absolutely terrible for the Habs. Couldn't play defense and was not an offensive threat at all. I know he is doing really well in Minnesota, but a bit too much money and too long term

Since the Habs lost this guy, they've gone from the Stnley Cup Finals to a potential draft lottery winning team. Maybe Minnesota is on to something here

All Dmen look good behind Spurgeon, Dumba and Brodin.

People saying it is an overpayment need to calm down. It's barely over the minimum salary for God's sake ..

2022-23 CAP HITS

Jon Merrill = $1,200,000
Ryan Suter = $6,370,000
Zach Parise = $6,370,000

2023-24 CAP HITS

Jon Merrill = $1,200,000
Ryan Suter = $7,370,000
Zach Parise = $7,370,000

2024-25 CAP HITS

Jon Merrill = $1,200,000
Ryan Suter = $7,370,000
Zach Parise = $7,370,000

If Merrill keeps performing like a $16,000,000 defensemen than the Wild are in great shape!

Journeyman finds a home.

Wild is his 5th team, and fourth in last two years.

By that logic one could say that Kirill Kaprizov isn’t worth it unless he’s playing like an over $20 mil player
