Question for Boston Fans

Description
Now that Rask is signed, do you think you guys would trade Swayman or Ullmark?

I'd imagine if Rask is as good as he was in prior years you wouldn't need all three goalies, and you might as well trade one of them for an impact player.

If so, what would you want in return?

This year, no. The goalies stay.
In the offseason: swayman? Still no. Ullmark, I certainly would assume he would be on the market. He would have to waive his no trade protection, which he has in a complete capacity for years one and two of his four year deal. That said, if he think he’ll be third string, which he should think, then i assume he’ll waive.

I think a lot of people will expect a first, I think a second would be fine.

I doubt they'll trade either. Rask is 34 on a one year deal, Ullmark has term and Swayman is the man of the future so I doubt Boston moves any of those three.

Yeah, I think that's probably the plan. Ullmark just signed, and has a NMC this season and next...can't see him being moved. Who knows how Rask's body will actually hold up too...big gamble to trade either of those guys.

Swayman - zero chance

Ullmark - 10% - has full NMC for 2 years. But if the price was right and he was willing…maybe.

Rask is only signed for this year. Couid be his last hurrah and then retire. Where would that leave them? Swayman is waiver exempt. There is no need to do anything. If Rask wants another year or 2 after this then they will have to make some decisions.

Would think a 1st would be required for them to even consider it.

The earliest you'd see someone moved would be in the off-season and that only if Rask wants to come back. At that point they'd explore moving Ullmark, but his NMC put him in the driver seat. He knew the plans was for Rask to come back and that's why he wanted a NMC his first 2 years.

The taxi squad makes keeping a 3rd goalie possible (if one of them is waivers-exempt).

Would you rather have picks or prospects? I’m wondering if say a player that already has some AHL time under his belt and grades out as a middle 6 or 2nd pair D might help more in the next two years before they can really reset the roster moving forward

Picks would likely fit the time table better.

bruins arent trading either goalie. swayman is the goalie of the future. rask wants another shot at a cup. I dont see boston asking ullmark to waive his nmc 1 year removed from FA. just wont happen, you want get free agents to come to you if you trade them quickly after signing.
