Curious on hypothetical

Description
So for the draft lottery. Say Montreal drops two and ends around 4-6. If a team moves up to one and wants to trade down with Montreal would Caufield be on the table?

I’m just curious on what Canadiens value Wright aswell as caufield

I wouldn’t do it if I was the Canadiens just curious

I did this mock for the devils but this question goes no matter what hypothetical teams gets first overall as long as Montreal falls to 5ish

    Devils probably draft nemec or jirichek allowing them to move Severson if they chose depending on how extension talk goes.

    They’d get caulfield too for the wing which is why they would go RHD

    I would just take Wright, don't over think it
    He's supposed to be the next generational player

    According to Eric Engels the Habs have 4 untouchables, Suzuki, Caufield Romanov and Guhle. As such I think the Habs pass especially since 1st over all is worth more to us than anything in that package.

    Habs pass. Not worth trading Caufield to move up 5 spots. I’d rather take whoever is there at 5 and keep caufield

    From Devils side, I would be happy with Nemec or Wright and if we could add Caufield in the process, even better. But I doubt MTL would want to. I don’t think there is that big of a difference between the #1 spot and #5 spot this year.

    No he isn't. You're thinking of Bedard next year.

    Wright isn't a generational player and the gap's starting to be even tighter between him and Savoie, don't get me wrong I think he'll be good (Even doe some analyst see him as a high floor, low ceiling type of guy) but I'd much rather keep a record breaking diminutive winger and a guy like Nemec, Lambert or Kemell over Wright and a prospect who isn't even keeping his own pace in the AHL.

    Exactly - the difference between Wright and anyone in the top 5 is not worth a ''Caufield''. I'm actually hoping the habs don't win the lottery and be forced to pick Wright... I get a huge Yakupov vibe from the kid.

    His stats and play don't match the praise and hype around him. Actually, this whole draft feels like that 2012 Draft. Especially with Covid-19, the dev and scouting must not have been as good.

    I truly think the safest bet in this draft are Nemec and Jiricek lol.

    It’s not just scouting that took a hit, Wright’s whole league was shut down. I don’t think he will be McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews. Nor am I fully convinced Wright is locked into #1 overall. But he is not likely Yakupov.

    In my view the gap between #5 and #1 is small because the likely options at #5 are really good (really the top-7 or 8).

    I think I would put Nemec and Cooley into same tier with Wright, maybe over Wright. And would consider saving a fourth seat there for Kemell or Lambert (can’t figure that one out). And have no idea where those two Russians fit in.

    My brain keeps telling me to oversimplify,
    Wright = Hischier
    Bedard = Hughes

    I think that's a good analogy

    I like that - Hischier is very serviceable, and If Wright can be 95% like Hischier the habs will be happy. However, I have to agree that Nemec and Jiricek are the two safest bet.

    Most other forwards feel like good top 6 players... but none of them seem elite or top line potential. They'll be 45 - 50 pts players... but not 70 pts players...

    Cole would be give us a killer RW side that we need.

    RW depth would be Caufield, Mercer, Holtz, Bastian

    Centers would be Nico, Hughes, Shango, McLeod

    LW: Tatar, Bratt, AJ, Wood

    Perfectly Balanced
