Don't like the Trouba trade. I'd rather move any of Sanheim, Morin, Hagg for him instead of Ghost.

AMac move is never going to happen unless its a 1st rounder going to them.

Justin Williams signing is pointless.. we already got rid of him

How will you ever afford him with those 30+ year-old studs tearing it up and then still retaining Larkin, Athanasiou, Mantha, etc.

Note how i said in 3 years Green, Ericsson, Kronwall, Franzen one of either or both Tatar and Nyquist will all be off the books and i seriously doubt that Larkin, AA and Mantha will get all the much before we could bring Trouba home we will have plenty for him.

If i was the flyers GM, i wouldn't give up Gostisbehere alone for trouba. Yes, Trouba is a good, top 4 defenseman, but Gostisbehere i think will be VERY good in the future.

Dreaming of Trouba? Then what are you waiting for? Trade something you value as much as the Jets value Trouba then....

Guys its pretty simple. Its either:

    Provorov
    Or
1st round picks and prospects galore (Sanheim, Konecny, 1st round pick, etc)
    Or
    Simmonds+

    Etc

I know its human nature to low ball but trading the players who the consensus say are the "tradeable assets" is not going to land the stud player. Trouba is a good player, that's why you want him so badly. That's the same reason Winnipeg will want a kings ransom for him in trade.

If you really valued Ghost and Laughton so much, they wouldn't be in nearly every Philly fans AGM in trades.

You can keep him for 3 more years until he becomes a pending UFA, And then we will gladly take him off your hands on July 1st 2021

Looking at value unbiased and not arbitrarily, yes.

Dude you just said Ghost will be very good one day and that Trouba is a good top 4. Where are you getting your facts from? I've seen you comment things like this time and time again. Trouba right now is a top pairing dman. Every single statistic proves it. Ghost is a PP specialist at best right now whose been scratched repeatedly. I like Ghost and would love him on my team but it doesn't take a genius to see he has major flaws defensively that will stop him from ever being able to be a top pairing dman. Unless he turns it around. which is possible but not nearly a certain thing right now.

Provorov is an absolute stud dman but Philly fans need to realize that Trouba is as valuable as Provorov is. There is literally nothing that can be said to prove otherwise that isn't opinion or belief.

Not trying to say one is better than they other or anything like that. Both are studs but if you want one, your going to have to give up something that will really hurt to get him. Laughton and Ghost would be forgotten within a week if they landed Trouba.

It's not working but go to the site and check out their HERO charts. Trouba is really good, but no way I'd give up Provorov for him.

    also, Marco.

I'd be willing to do a Simmer/Ghost for Trouba type deal but it would have to involve a prospect like Connor or Roslovic coming back too. I'd send maybe a late rounder to WPG in that deal but Ghost and Trouba are both performing as top pairing defensemen this year in almost every single statistical category and when looking at their HERO charts the only stat Trouba is better than Ghost at is TOI (which isn't worth much). He does outperform him in defensive categories (obviously), but Ghost is still a better 5 on 5 offensive defensive even though the narrative around here appears to be all he can do is play on the PP1 which is sad.

Percentile Ratings among NHL defensemen weighted over last 3 years (5 on 5 only):

Ice Time Goals Assists Points O. Shots D. Shots Shots
    Trouba 91 76 63 70 91 54 81
    Ghost 41 89 40 71 81 46 71

I guess if you get scratched five times in 136 career NHL games means repeatedly. To clarify, Nick Shultz is scratched repeatedly. Trouba is not just as valuable as Provorov, at least in trade value. If you are saying to their respective teams, I agree with you hands down. However, to claim that they are of equal trade value is absurd. Provorov is second in rookie TOI and leads the Flyers w/ TOI. Provorov has elite potential to be just a pure two way machine on defense. Not to say that Trouba cannot, the ceiling is the roof with Provorov.

I would further go on to say that the flyers would be able to trade Provorov and a 1st rounder for McDavid. This may or may not be true, but could you say, that it is plausible that, given the same offer involving Trouba, that they accept the Flyers' deal for McDavid? Furthermore, you can take any stud on any team (Pasternak, Nylander, Werenski, etc.) and say that Trouba and any draft pick would get you the same return as Provorov and that same draft pick.

Not to have an "ad hominem" attack on you, but you, like most, gravitate towards pure stats, rather than actual play. For example, if Andrew MacDonald were to have more a better +/-, TOI, and Corsi than Trouba, its conceivable that you would say that he would have the same value as Trouba. However, any true Flyer fan knows that, MacDonald turns the puck over in the d-zone like clockwork.

Again, not a character assassination on you, I actually like a lot of your teams and theories, but you're wrong IMO.

One thing needs to be made very, very, very clear. Ivan Provorov is already a better player than Gostisbehere, and he won't be traded for anyone not named McDavid. I personally think that Gostisbehere isn't nearly as good as people think he is. Philly should be more than willing to move him for Trouba.

Calder runner up, promising 1st rd forward and a 3rd round pick isn't chop liver.
It wouldn't be enough to get a really good player who was happy where he was...but it's pretty good for someone who doesn't want to be there.

Nah, you're wrong....Provorov is 3 years younger and as we all know contract situation matters.
Trouba has already signed a bridge deal and will need to get paid next deal. Provorov has 2 years of ELC left and like 4 or 5 yrs until he's eligible for arbitration.
    This favors Provorov dramatically.

Often times, people assume that, just because fans trade the same players over and over again (Laughton, Ghost, etc.) that we perceive their trade value and talent worse than it is. You made the mistake of using this exact thesis by saying :
    Quoting: F50marco
If you really valued Ghost and Laughton so much, they wouldn't be in nearly every Philly fans AGM in trades.

In order to trade for quality players, you need to trade players with either quality or high potential, or a mixture of both, primarily in the case of Ghost. I can give you an example of a player that is the same teams trades every single time I look at them : Matt Duchene.

To implement the thesis I laid out and what you said, you're saying that Matt Duchene is not valued by COL fans because he is every trade. This doesn't make sense since he is one of their few players with actual value. I would like it if you could clarify and explain how your thesis differs, if at all, from the thesis that I stated.
