The first trade is awful and the second the sharks probably reject and it has too many unneeded assets . Also the rangers don't give up Rooney

Sharks EASILY decline. A bunch of crap, Kravstov and a 1st isn’t doing it, not for Hertl and Reimer

Counter offer:

to NYR - Hertl and Reimer

To San Jose: 2023 1st (top 3 prospected), Schneider, Kravstov, 2023 3rd.

There are no guarantees that Kravstov would come back so the sharks need something else of value.

yeah u cant just throw as many assets as possible at a trade and hope that works, while also ruining our AHL team. theres no need to have brodzinski or greco in this trade, they dont add value and theyre useful to us, and the sharks still decline cause this trade sucks.

22 1st and Schneider for Hertl
Georgiev and a 2nd for Reimer
you can throw Krav if you want to move the 1st to 2023 if you want

I’d take Georgiev but the apparent ask for him is a 1st, just like Kravstov.

That’s what 32 Thoughts has mentioned on all 3 players but I’m sure that’s why they haven’t been moved yet.

First off, Hertl would have to sign an extension for any trade. If he did, the Nils Lundquist is a RD along with Kravstov, or if you prefer a center, than Chytil. Schneider is off the table. If those guys don't work, then no deal I suppose.

Chytil isn’t looking so hot, lindquvist is solid but undersized and krav value isn’t what it was, hertl is on pace for 40+ goals this season and that’s with the majority of his tim with 3rd line players since the sharks are so thin at forward. he’s worth more than what’s being offered and i would expect more from trade then one of the other guys not named Schneider

You have every right to expect a nice return for Hertl, but if the Sharks are stuck on Schneider, they are going to have to find another dance partner. Chytil (or Kravstov), Lundqvist and a 1st round pick seem pretty reasonable to me, assuming Hertl signs an extension. Lundqvist isn't all that large, but then again, neither is Adam Fox, Cale Makar or Erik Karlsson.

the issue is sharks have Mario ferraro Karlsson and Nick Merkley 3 D men who will be in our top 6 next year all under 6’
i would want RD with size as an heir to Burns spot in 2 years.
22 1st Lundquvist and Krav would be more than fair, i would just hold out for NY to maybe get desperate and cave and do the 23 1st and Schneider. but i don’t disagree with you wanting to keep Schneider.

I get your reasoning and think its spot on. The Rangers have a similar issue. On the top pair we have Lindgren, who plays physical but isn't that big, just has a big heart. On the second pair we have Trouba who is big and physical and plays with an edge along with Miller who is a large kid but plays a passive game, not very physical. Third pair needs a physical guy like Schneider because Nemeth isn't the solution and Tinordi is a 7th D at best. The future left side on the 3rd pair is prob Zac Jones, who is not big or physical, so pairing him with Schneider makes sense. That's why I think Nils Lindqvist is the guy to trade. I get why you may not want him.

no you are wrong i would Love Lundkqvist! i think highly of him, the issue is we have a smaller RD who has a higher offensive ceiling but a much lower defensive ceiling than Lundy, if we did this trade i would assume it means the end for Merkley, and i would rather give him a chance at least. that’s why i’m so torn here lol.
but both our teams have similar thought process for D, pair a smaller offensive D with a bigger more physical D and hope to find 1-2 that has both size and skill.
fox is clearly better than Karlsson now, though you can see their similarities in career projections. Burns and Trouba are similar and hell ferraro and Lindgren are even similar lol.
the biggest difference between rangers and sharks D setup is you have better D prospects who are closer to nhl and your guys are younger…. well and your not stuck with a shell of his former self Vlasic lol

Yeah, both teams have similar D pairs. I like Lundy too, but I can't see a pairing of Jones and Nils, they would get manhandled in front of the net by teams like Calgary and Nashville. The Rangers have a good problem for sure, too many good young D....its a good problem to have.

yes! and you have 4-5 Legit RHD and those are hard to find.

on paper our D is similar
however
Fox > Karlsson (but in Karsson youth he was better)
Lindgren = Ferraro (both are excellent defensive minded top 4 D)
Miller > Knyzhov/ Middleton (Knyzhov is similar to him but with his injury I'm scared he wont be the same)
Trouba < Burns (Burns is better but not by much and at 36 his best days are behind him)
Nemeth >>> Vlasic/ Simek (Vlasic use to be the best Defensive D man in the game but he is a shell of himself now)
Lundkvist > Merkley both are smaller Merkley has more offensive upside but Lunkvist is clearly better defensively)
Schneider >>>>>>> any other shrks D prospect (he will be the big difference between this group next year.
your D group is slightly better now but will be miles better in 1-2 years as ours regresses due to age.
the biggest difference with these teams is in net where you guys have a clearly better Goalie and your forward group puts ours to shame lol

No doubt. I just hope Drury does the right thing and keeps Schneider and that Gallant can develop them properly.

I have been watching the Sharks since I moved to Bay Area in 1995 and really like the organization. Usually, they do smart things and play good hockey, but when they traded for Karlsson I thought it was a mistake, and then when they signed him long term they compounded the mistake, and the icing on the cake was letting Pavelski walk. That was an epic blunder IMO. He was the heart and soul of that team, and it was never clearer than when he got hurt in that playoff game and they stormed back to win. How could they let him walk?

I think the tough on Pavelski was he is a slower smaller guy and those usually don't hold up to time well.
they were wiling to give him 6 for 2 years but refused the 3rd year. no one would have guessed that 3rd year Pavelski deal with Dallas would have ended up this good for them being the difference in their playoff run and leading the team in scoring the last two years, especially at 37 putting up over a point per game.
Karlsson was a panic move when they lost out on Taveras and resigning him was also a panic that they were giving up so much for nothing.
His play this year eases this a bit but I still hated them resigning him to that albatross deal.
the real head scratcher is the Vlasic and Labanc deals. both looked bad from day one and haven't gotten better.

I knew the Pavelski thing was just a blunder. Joe isn't that big but he plays big and knows how to score, and his team loved him. Letting him walk over 1 year was just silly. I agree, they panicked with Karlsson, but that doesn't make it easier to deal with. The Rangers have done similar things in the past, mostly by Sather, so I know what it feels like. At least Lebanc is still young, so maybe that can work out, but Vlasic is a head scratcher. Its like the deals Sather gave Staal and Girardi that were just anchors around the teams neck.

I think Vlasic's deal was because he always took less than fair marked value on his deals and DW owed him.
Labanc's deal is similar. Labanc took that 1 yr 1 mil deal to help DW out of a cap dilemma and got rewarded for it with his 4 year deal. it equated to a 5 yr deal 19.9 mil or 3.98 mil which is closer to his value, I would have preferred him closer to 3.3-3.4 mil a year though.

Wilson has made some awesome trades (Thornton, Burns, among others) most of his signings and deals have worked for us but his blunders came almost al at once.
though one of his better Hiring's was his son believe it or not, that kid and our scouting the last 3 years has made him look like a draft wizard.
