Ok I want a definitive answer from a leafs fan:

Why is Travis Dermott valuable? He is 25. has average less than 14 mins per game the last 2 years(when not healthy scratched) and carries a cap hit higher than league min and doesnt shoot right.

To me that screams waiver dump not 3rd round pick.

Montreal has too many LHD already with Edmundson, Chiarot, Romanov already better than Dermott and Kulak on the same level and guys like Niku, Clague, Guhle, Norlinder, Struble and Fairbrother likely to pass him as well. Even if you flip him over to the RD then we have Petry, Chiarot, Romanov, Weber (if he ever returns), all better, Kulak and Wideman on the same level and Niku, Clague, all chasing. we need true top 4 RHD not LHD like Dermott.

Jeff Gorton builds his team differently compared to Marc Bergevin. Gorton values skill, analytics, loves puck moving defensemen, and Dermott plays the style Gorton would want to have on his team

You mean like Romanov, Kulak, Norlinder, Struble, Harris, Fairbrother, Niku, Clague, Wideman and Petry?! Yeah Montreal passes still we have no need for him.

Romanov, Kulak, Norlinder, Storable, Haris, Fairbrother, Niku, Wideman, and Petry are all players Marc Bergevin brought in. Clague was a Jeff Gorton move, he values puck moving defensemen

PMD like Romanov, Petry, Kulak, Norlinder, Struble, Harris, Niku, Wideman and Fairbrother! It does not matter who brought them in only that they already fill the role of Dermott! Habs will always pass on Dermott since we are already overrun with bottom pair PMD and have no top 4 PMD (which Dermott is not a top 4)
