on an expiring deal, requesting a trade, and the Blues can't afford to resign him. Thought about doing a trade for Mantha but not sure if the Caps would look for something like that

Why would Detroit do this? They trade a 22yr old and a 2nd for a 30yr who is a UFA at the end of the season. It makes no sense maybe they make the playoffs next year but it won't be for more than a single round!

I saw somewhere they might want to move on from Zadina, I think next year they are playoff contenders and will want to add a true scoring threat besides Raymond. The idea is they would extend him as well

First where did you see it and was it a reputable source? Zadina has been playing very well and Yzerman has said he isn't worried about the scoring it will come. Plus there is no need to trade him at least until Vrána is back because they are very familiar with each other. Second how is 1yr of a 30yr old Tarasenko worth a 22yr old Zadina and an early 2nd rd pick?

I forget where I saw it but it makes since(it was more of an idea than rumor, I just ran with it), he wasn't drafted by Yzerman and I think the wings should be pushing to be legit playoff contenders next year. The thought is to extend Tarasenko after trading for him. Getting the young guys playoff experience would be very beneficial to them and it seems like Zadina is kind of the odd man out. Tarasenko would become a very good top line RW until Raymond is ready to take his spot giving them 2 legit RW options who can put up points. you need good veterans to help bring along the youngsters

I would be ok with a 2023 1st instead, just think Tarasenko would be a good fit in Detroit

Do you even watch hockey because Raymond is only 4 points behind Tarasenko and he is a rookie. Tarasenko had 19 points his rookie season. Tarasenko has 1yr left on his contract and at 30 he isn't close to firing in to Detroit's time line. I can assure you Yzerman will not make a boneheaded trade like this it is awful for Detroit!!!

Do you watch hockey, there are 4 lines and I said multiple times it would be with an extension. Learn to read

It's obvious you are one of those people who come here to criticize every post involving the wings but never actually make one yourself

Couple things to point out in this reasoning.

First, no legitimate source has said he’s on the block. Yzerman has recently came out and said he’s doing all the right things but doesn’t have any puck luck but that’ll come. Your source are fans on sites like this.

Second why would we be legit contenders next year? Our goaltending and a few performances of key players (eg Larkin, Raymond, Seider) are the only reason we’re not a bottom 3/5 team currently. We have a -27 goal differential and a horrible GAx vs GFx. Thank goodness Ned is standing on his head out there just look at the shot totals recently.

Playoff contenders, not cup contenders. They will have a decent amount of cap to add some depth guys and a big guy like Tarasenko would be very nice. The rumor was an article I saw on twitter, it didn't say he wasn't the block however it is a guy they could see the wings moving on from

Yzerman has repeatedly preached patience. He isn’t in a rush for a potential first round exit but rather building a strong core for multiple runs.

What you saw wasn’t a rumor but rather speculation from someone that has no inside information.
