if colorado wanted grubuer at that contract they would have signed it themselves

they are not going to trade 2 cost controlled RFAs and a 3rd round pick for 4th liner pending UFAs

So Boston trades 2 players for much lesser players and add a 3rd when they have no cap issues or reason to.

I'm an outsider but two things:

1. The Giordano trade would be illegal due to cap circumvention on Calgary's side. They would most certainly send him elsewhere with cap retained, but it won't be to Calgary (think Vegas or Florida would be better fits for Giordano's game).

2. The Grubauer trade might have made sense last year. But this year? Gru has made Koskinen look like Vasilevskiy in comparison. Absolutely no chance the Avs take him back, especially given his horrendous form right now.
