Team: 2021-22 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 13, 2022
Published: Jan. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think AZ will either get a A prospect and top 6 forward + two second rounders or a late 1st rounder from a contender for Chychrun.

If Sharks could somehow land a goaltender like Merzlikins that would be huge. The Bluejackets would be willing to move him for the right price since they also have Korposalo there as well.

Also I like Hertl as a winger. I think he’s much more dangerous/effective offensively and he’s allowed to play a more relaxed game. He can dangle around anyone. Sharks need another experienced bottom 6 center and winger. Similar to Bonino/Cogliano. Eakin and a guy like Hinostroza could fit in nicely. I think the Sharks can contend for a Wild Card spot come April.

BS BUD. It’s the Deadline, sellers are desperate to move pieces that have 1-2years left on contracts for picks and prospects.

Value is off on all.

I rather keep Hill. He’s shown flashes of great goaltending and I rather give him more time. Defense in front of him could be better, so as our defense improves he’ll improve.

We should keep R. Merkley! Everyone needs to chill out and let him develop. He’s playing well in the NHL rn.

Last trade is a bit meh. Rather call up players and let them play. We have underrated young talent y’all!

Elvis has a 5 year extension already signed…. Elvis is better and has a longer contract… why does Columbus make this trade?

That’s also why Korpisalo has been on the trade block all season.

Ok then Sharks would trade for Korpisalo, I think they both carry a similar value.

I agree but I think Hertl can score 15-20 more points as a winger. He has more freedom to be creative. As a center it limits his offensive game a lot.

Merkley isn’t an “Elite” prospect

Hill has a fatal flaw, he has a horrid glove hand, If Nabokov can help him fix that he will be an all-star, but I fear that never goes away.
Chychrun and Ferraro with Burns and Karlsson would give us an awesome and deep top 4, but I don't want to give up that much for him, and saying that I think he gets Arizona more from another team.
Merkley should stay and we should see what we have, he has NHL level offense now but needs to work on his D and off puck play.
that Buffalo trade just blocks better younger cheaper talent coming up.

Yeah, I just don't see us getting any of these players with these trades. Even if we are buyers (and it's still a big IF), we should be looking for new top 6 wingers and clearing out defensemen from our team instead. Besides, Columbus and Arizona would want more for Merzlikins and Chychrun respectively.

The only trade that seems plausible is the Buffalo trade, and even then I don't think Eakin or Hinostroza would add anything for us. Pederson has been subpar, but at least he's cheap and can be placed on the scratch list without too much cap trouble so I'd look for other deals instead.

But he adds so much value to the team as a C and we don't have an NHL ready 2C NHL ready for at least 2-3 years. (Robins is more a wing than a C and Bordeleau or Eklund would need needs 1-2 years
before one of them take the 2C spot

How is Korpisalo anywhere close to the same value he’s regressed even further from the .894 he put up last season.

I love the player we get back in the ARI deal but the only way I see this deal happening is if we trade hertl and have ammo to spare, which is unlikely. Plus the value is off

how do you figure? Chychrun was a mid B grade prospect, Merkley is young (21) and has played few NHL games and has looked pretty good.
