I could argue both sides of a Severson, Romanov swap.

But Kuokkanen for Caufield would be hard to justify.

Kuokkanen is a good young player and should be a 30-50 point, versatile, middle-sixer. But young snipers with years of chemistry with Jack Hughes are more scarce.

I would think Caufield would cost us either Mercer or Holtz, maybe Foote+.

Honestly, I get ur point with Romanov and Severson, But we would keep Romy because of the factor age and contract. Caufield as of RN don't get us Holtz. Mercer maybe but not Holtz.

Yeah, the Severson/Romanov part is one that is dependent on teams situation, for which I could see both sides. Which is why I kind of let that part alone.

Mercer is more valuable than Holtz right now. For one, he is a center. Two, he is in NHL and playing well. Third, even if his scoring goes through a lull, his defense keeps him in an NHL lineup. I think Holtz, kind of like Caufield, needs to be putting up points to be everyday fixture in NHL.

I'm Confused as of why Caufield ain't playing with Hughes

Habs are not trading romanov for severson! He has the biggest heart on the team. It costs for NJ a 1st and bahl. Caufield is not getting traded like that! Would you not get angry if people were trading hughes in his rookie season in exchange for armia.

Kouk has more value than Caulfield since he's a C. if Hughes and Nico were not there, he'd be a first line C.

It’s a pretty favorable trade for Devils on value, so yes. But I do think Severson would be harder to replace than many think. Every team is looking for a top-4 RHD. That said reuniting Hughes and Caufield could be something special.



Kuokkanen played center mostly in AHL but has been exclusively a winger in NHL. I think if Hughes and Hischier were not on team, Zacha, Mercer, Sharangovich and McLeod would be our four centers.

While I agree that Kuokkanen often gets a little underrated, Caufield’s ceiling make him the more valuable piece by a considerable amount. Just my opinion.
