Ya I feel they would at least give up the lowest of the 2x 2nd rounders they have. Maybe squeeze a 1st but man I'm not giving up a 1st unless I'm confident I'm winning a couple rounds this year even though hes half retained

The bruins don't really have the cap to do that move. Especially if bergeron is going to re-sign

Condition is if the lose out 1st round or miss the playoffs its a 2nd. Also ya never know how a guy fits in with a team. He doesn't look great but they are also supposed to have Ellis for Risto to be sheltered behind. So we are seeing the same Risto. Islanders may be able to get the most out of him as they have reliable defensive d-men and he would not have to play heavy minutes. And its lou, All out bud lets go.

The Old Bergeron Contract. Talk about having no idea what he is going to get, well to me. Like i would assume after being on such a discount he would want some money, but its also Bergeron and he understands the value of a low cap hit to his franchise and his chance to win the cup. What do you think hes gettting?

The last thing NYI needs is a right-handed defenseman.

My point is he wouldn’t play, the isles aren’t taking out Pulock, Dobson, or Mayfield for Ristolainen

Ive seen Dobson play the left side. I wouldn't take any of those guys out. Andy greene sitting would be who im thinking.

honestly im just not sure where it could work for Risto, thought this could be a place maybe it will work. Just goes to show that the Flyers are probably getting nothing out of that trade. Signing him long term could be the worst part about that trade for the flyers

Not sure why the Islanders would make a move like this. Nor do I see why the Flyers would for a return that brings a salary back to them they're stuck with next season.

The baseline for making the playoffs is about 95 points. The Islanders need to go 33-19-1 or some combination in their final 53 games. Not impossible but unlikely especially given 95 points doesn't even seem like enough this year with Boston and Pittsburgh playing well and controlling the Eastern Wild Card spots.

Given the Flyers lack of RD defenseman he would be more valuable to re-sign at $3 or $3.5 million per season and hope he can be a #4 at best or be okay with him on the 3rd pair in time.

If you can get Risto at that price then ya it makes sense to keep him. Pretty strange looking at Risto as a $3M dollar player but maybe thats something we need to get use to? I still hold a little bit of hope for him, tough year for the Flyers.

I don't see how the Flyers or any team can look at him and say he's worth over $4 million right now. He's capable of being a steady minute eating defenseman but he needs to prove he can be consistent. He seems to like being in Philly and he plays a style the Flyers are sorely lacking. So there's a desire to make this work on both sides. The Flyers can offer a term that makes a lower AAV more stabilizing for his career. The Flyers tried to have a plan to make him be a #4 but Ellis' injuries have made that impossible. They will continue that effort in the offseason.

I don’t think the Bruins are taking any contracts that go past next season unless it’s for a young and affordable player. They have a major reset coming after next year and that Hayes contract would put hard limits on what they could do.

Yeah, all we can do here is speculate, but I'm hoping less than 6 mill. Not what he deserves, imo, but my hope.

This has been the best fit and honestly I thought it would go alot better here but like you said Ellis being out is putting him back in a 'Buffalo position. Hopefully a blesssing in diguse for the Flyers, get him cheap and then when your d is healthy next year, maybe he can actually bring it for once and show some value to his team.
