Doug Wilson giving out the big bucks what could go wrong? Look at Karlsson Burns Couture Kane Jones. Some great contracts handed out

I'm as big a Hertl fanboy as they come but with the way he's playing, he likely isn't interested in a steep discount and the Sharks could get a king's ransom for him. I almost might be more interested in the assets than holding him back from chasing a cup, as much as it pains me to say that.

Karlsson was a desperation move pushed by the owner not Wilson, Burns deal is still good but the last 2 years we will see some regression, but he will still be I viable admittedly overpaid top 4
Couture deal is still looking fine but he may regress in a few years but too soon to judge that one.
Kane was a good deal and he was producing at a really good level till this offseason where he became to much to deal with.
Jones and Vlasic were bad deals and I know he regrets them both.

I'm in the same boat but were only about 2-3 years from having a solid deep team again.

LeBrun's reported $7.87M looks to be within the range I'd expect DW to offer ($7-8M). I do hope Hertl re-signs in San Jose but I would understand if he wants to test the market given his recent performances.

Lebrun didn't report figures. That was my personal input.

The assets we can get as a rental are not going to be full value.

Burns and Couture so far have performed as advertised. Their terms are longer than I wanted, but I wouldn't consider either of them bad contracts by any means. Evander would have been a stellar contract... if Evander wasn't, well, Evander. We should never have signed the EK65, Jones, or Vlasic deals though. EK65 has stepped up this season, but $11.5M is pretty much a wash for our cap and the less said about Jones and Pickles' current contracts the better.

I've never had a problem with Couture or Burns deals either. I would hate to see either of them somewhere else so I can deal with the term and cap hits.

Flip over and watch Dallas and the US$20MIL they have choked-off in Seguin/Benn to see where giving old guys big money/term will put you...

Hertl @ 28.5yrs old and getting the 7/8Yrs term and US$7/8/9M will not age well.
Where it will age well is in future ACGM trade forums and debates trying to unload the albatross contract...

2022 Refresher:
Couture 32y old - $8mil per until end of 26-27 season!
EK 31 - $11.5 per until end of '26-'27
BB 36 - $8 per until end of '24-'25
Pickles 34 - $7 per until end of '25-'26
M. Jones...DEAD CAP almost $2Mil per until end of '26-'27

Once again. I am a sharks fan. You are pasting information that we know well and most hockey fans do. Stop wasting your time and our time with regurgitated drivel. It's vapid. Try to be original for once. It's hard and requires effort. Good luck.

Yet the fans think signing more similar contracts going forward is the solution!
The solution to relieving the migraine headache you get from repeatedly banging your head against the brickwall, is to take a giant step-backward...
