Does Detroit Think They are Good

Created by: Random2152
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 15, 2022
Published: Jan. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sure how much they like their prospects if they are ready to start putting this roster together in a winning fashion. They are also in a great postion where they can take expensive 1 year bets on guys in the hope they still have something.

Also it is the last year of Larkin and Bert on their contracts so if they think they can compete it would be a good time to go for it

When we’re talking about a career of 19 goals, sample size matters. Same goes with this year. He’s clearly snake bitten by his SH%. Most forwards have around 1/3 of their goal production on the PP which clearly one good night of Zadina could put him there so again sample size.

Go ahead and argue against the numbers, have fun

Common sense says small sample size equals high volatility. Be sensible.

I'm sorry but Detroit is in no position to trade 4 1st rd picks for a single player they don't have enough talent on their roster. Plus Arizona is looking for a 1st, a top prospect and a good young player.

Pavelski isn't signing in Detroit he will be 40 or older by the time the Wings are ready for a deep playoff run. It doesn't make sense for him or the Wings. Pavelski is looking for a cup and would most likely would take less to go to a team that has a legit chance to win a cup like Spezza and Thornton are doing.

Woah Woah Woah.

Where the hell did you get 4 1st rounders from?

18/19 - 9 games - 1 PP goal, 0 even strength goals
19/20 - 28 games - 4 pp goals, 4 even strength goals
20/21 - 49 games - 3 pp goals, 3 even strength goals
21/22 - 37 games - 2 pp goals, 2 even stregnth goals

It's part of four seasons. The last 3 seasons he has played in 114 of 166 possible games. This isn't small sample size, unless you are referring to his small amount of goals in these games. That's the point. Your small sample size is the problem, not enough goals. Use some common sense.

I take it you haven’t watched a Wings game in the last few years. First, some of those games he was a teenager or playing on a historically bad team. Another point is he doesn’t play like his scouting report he’s developed a defensive game. Not sure why your evaluating only on goals as there are plenty of factors of a player. So I guess your common sense is if you just cherry pick without any context I get it.

Here's my point, again, and the only point I'm making, "Zadina is a PP specialist, and until he figures out 5v5, no one is going to want him".Shifting the argument one way or another doesn't change that point. You can be a homer if you want, but you're not convincing anyone of anything other than that you are a homer.

Respond again and I'll mute you

PP specialist implies he’s an offensive liability when that’s not the case. Is he a disappointing 6th overall pick, sure. Can he carve out a role as a 3rd line /middle 6 winger, sure. I’ve already stated multiple times he’s not just a “sniper” and his playmaking/defensive work has come drastically up post draft. This just tells me you haven’t watched him and rely on cherry picked analytics without any context. You haven’t stated anything than cherry picked stats to prove your point so I’ll continue being the Homer and enjoy your ignore list. You act like Brannstrom is some prized possession when he can’t even regularly crack Ottawa’s defensive core.
