I think montreal can get something between a 5th and a 3rd if they trade byron next season with a 50% retention. I dont see them needing to pay a 5th to get rid of a player who will become ufa in the summer

I don't see the point of this for buffalo?
Take on some cap for meaningless picks.
I'd much rather capitalize on the cap space to either make a signing or take a cap dump from a team and get something useful 1-3 picks or a young player

Reach the floor while allowing young guys to play. I like cizikas and the rest are one year commitments that don't clog up roster spots

Fair enough. Definitely appreciate the build within approach, just feel like you could get more than a 5 and 6th using the cap available

Isles definitely say no, we want Casey and not a AHL player.

Habs say no. There is no point. We don’t need the cap space this year. Might as well let him play next year and maybe increase his value. Trade him at next years deadline at 50% retained and maybe get something of value, but there is really no point in clearing his contract.

Case and point, you left 20M in cap space but yes we absolutely had to clear byrons 3M and a draft pick…. ….
