I feel like PIT is already giving up the three best players (combined), I'm not sure why they would include a 1st.

Why would they want hoffman or Armia???
If anything, I think they want Toffoli over those 2.

My fellow habs fans need to understand that Armia, hoffman have little to no value. Hoffman has his warts. Armia is a big contract for what he brings. Better to just let those contracts run out at least one more year, hope for a rebound in play by one or both of them next year, and then maybe some more options open next year at the trade deadline. But there’s no point in trading them now. This should be a 2 year rebuild for the habs which gives more time for these bigger contracts to run out and also more time for them to improve their play/value

The way I saw it was,

Chiarot for 1st + 3rd
Zucker + 3rd for Hoffman
Peterson for difference between Hoffman and Zucker and because we dropped the 3rd on the Chiarot trade. Plus the Pens gain about 2.7 mil Cap
Carter for Armia, this I knew is a bit in Montreal's favor since Carter is better, it isn't a necessary part of the trade was just thinking the Pens could use a bottom 6 RW and to allow some younger centers more ice time.

There have been a number of Pens fans trading Zucker + 3rd for Hoffman

I haven’t seen those but I’d do that in a heartbeat. Zucker only has 1 year left. Retain 50% on his contract at next years deadline on his contract. You could get something for that, + 3rd in your suggested proposal for Hoffman + one less year of contracts since zucker is one year less than Hoffman

Hoffman on a team like the Pens makes sense, since he relies on getting lost in the cycle to get off his quick release. The reason why he seems to be ineffective on the Habs is cause we rely on speed off the transition and suck on the cycle.

No reason for the Pens to consider this at all.

Absolutely not. The pens are giving up the 3 best players. If any team gives up the 1st it’s the Habs here which just wouldn’t make sense for them. Carter also would retire if he gets traded to play anywhere but Pittsburgh or LA.

I would disagree with this, Zucker isn't better than Hoffman most Pens ACGM's are paying to dump Zucker whereas Hoffman just doesn't fit the Habs system. I explained my reasoning above (not sure if you read through the comments) but here was my response earlier.

I don't mind removing Carter and Armia seeing as it isn't necessary for either side. We can also swap the 1st for Puolin since Pens say they aren't moving their 1st.

No pens fans aren’t paying to dump Zucker at all. They are simply trading him. Zucker isn’t a bad player at all. Hoffman is a dump. Zucker is a victim of a stubborn coach. Zucker needs to play with players that go north/south and play with speed. When he played with Crosby he was almost a PPG player. Even when he has played on Blueger’s line in short spurts has looked great. It’s when he is paired with an older Carter who is slower and Malkin who does alot if freelancing and East/west play do his points suffer. Literally everyone here, including Habs fans have said Zucker is better than Hoffman. If he doesn’t fit the Habs, what makes you think he will fit here. Sullivan’s whole system is relying on a strong breakout and fast pace hockey. The only time the pens play a cycle game is on the power play.
Your valuation of players is just way off. Chiarot isn’t worth a 1st, much less a 1st and 3rd. Again Zucker is better than Hoffman and the contract status is better. So you’re basically saying Pettersson is only worth a 3rd but Pettersson is better than Chiarot. So realistically if Chiarot is worth a 1st and 3rd then Pettersson is worth two 1sts. None of your logic behind this really makes sense and is just way off tbh.

Why does everyone always come back and say I am over valuing Chiarot? I never set the value insiders like LeBrun, Serivali and Freidman stated anywhere from a 1st to a 1st + with retention. Look back through the Pens ACGM's just last week, there were several that had Zucker + 3rd for Hoffman from Pens fans. So again this isn't my evaluation just a recycled trade. I valued Petterson as a 2nd, maybe I slightly undervalued him, which should be understandable since I am not a Pens fan and haven't seen much of him but the other players evaluations were based off insiders or Pens fans ACGM's. If you have issue with that go talk to your fellow Pens fans about their evaluations.
