Trade 1 old injured goalie for a different old injured goalie? Isn't this for both Edmonton and Toronto just painting doo doo with a layer of gold paint?

the leafs would rather have Mrazek than Smith, at least he's young enough to be a decent 1B when he's healthy

It's hilarious how all these ACGMs are perfect for the Leafs while screwing the other teams over. 🤣 When did the Ducks become sellers? You don't know about the Mrazek-Holland history in Detroit. It's not good.

Now ask yourself, is the difference between Mrazek and Manson equal to the difference between a mid 2nd rounder and a late 1st rounder?

Oilers certainly aren’t paying a 2nd rounder to help you move an injury prone goalie with term to make room for a Campbell contract

Yes, there's "gilding the lily" and then there's "bronzing the cow turd."

I think Holland gets desperate and feels Mrazek is an upgrade on smith. Oilers are a sinking ship and won't win anything until they improve their goaltending. Leafs take Turris to make the money work and Mrazek is a better goalie than smith if he stays healthy.

It's not saying the Ducks are sellers but Manson is a UFA and prob gone at the end of the season anyway. Not a huge downgrade for them to get Holl and a 1st to keep building for the future.

Oilers need goaltending and when healthy Mrazek is arguably an upgrade on Smith. Maybe it's not a 2nd, maybe a 3rd or a 4th. But I don't see many options for the oilers to upgrade their goaltending with how tight they are to the cap.

Smith is cheaper and cap space is gold for the leafs. Campbell has proven he is a number 1 so you don't need to tie up that much money in a backup.

smith is awful and 900 years old and his contract, which cheaper, is worse because of it. and the leafs would still need a back up who doesnt sink them so this trade does nothing for him
