Andersson is a top pairing dman, Vladar is our backup(which we need because Wolf most likely won't be ready next year) and one of the best leaders in the room even tho he is a bad contract? I don't see how this makes Calgary better. Tho I may be interested in it if Calgary made Tkachuk available so the bros can play together.

So you honestly think that the 18th OA pick+Lucic+Vlader+Andersson equals the 1st OA pick? First off doubtful Lucic would even waive for Ottawa. And Vlader and Andersson don't move you up 17 spots.

Treat the 1st overall pick like Patrice Bergeron if he was 18 and had 7 guaranteed years of team control remaining because that's what Shane Wright is gonna be at minimum

Wolf is a nice piece but I don’t think Vladar is the problem. You have a $6m camp weighing down your side of the trade. That’s significantly decreasing the value of what you’re sending over.

Also keep in mind that there were rumours in 2020 that the Rangers declined an offer from Dorion of 3rd and 5th overall for 1st. I’m not sure how much truth is behind that but I’m just using that rumour to bring context to how much a 1st overall pick is coveted.

Ottawa doesn't need goalie prospects. They have 27 y/o Murray who might just find his game again (if finally healthy) but the battle will be FEROCIOUS between Gustavsson and Sogaard. Plus there's 2 guys behind who might develop into legit goalies too

Don't really need picks too as they are stacked in u-25 talent. They want to upgrade ACTUAL players as much as possible.

That said, its the only trade that OTT and CGY should be doing. CGY doesnt have any pieces other than MTkachuk that fit the OTT need that merit 1OA

Barzal def better than Tkachuk, the package would be MT + first round pick + some more assets like Andersson

TBH, while I do think that Barzal is better than MTkachuk, I dont think its *that* much more, and I think OTT would benefit from financial and intangible methods by having both Tkachuks and would value him more than other teams
