That Vezina goalie was traded for nothing and honestly was very mid every other season before last season always carried by a stacked team already looks bad with chicago with a -5.0 GSAX(Moneypuck) Carter Savoie is the in NCAA shows that you really know your specs and is over a ppg with 0.7 goals per game pace, in this scenario the oilers free up cap but have to pay an immense package for an overrated old goalie and an average third liner. Makes no sense for Edmonton to do this they can get a better goalie for a lot cheaper (for example) Varlamov
No need to get personal, I pulled up the wrong Savoie window. It happens.
Regardless, +1ppg in his second ncaa season is not “future top six”. He’s progressing well, but he more then likely still has another 2 years before going pro and is still just that, a prospect.
I don’t think say, Varlamov, is going to be significantly cheaper for you. Especially because he has a second year, which makes him (and any retention on him) cost more, esp when we take into account the dumping of koskinens atrocious contract as part of the exchange.
And yeah, fleury was dumped... because Vegas wanted 7m of capspace and, unlike the oilers, have a suitable goalie. He wasn’t dumped because he was bad.
Agree to disagree though
