Ottawa wants a 2nd round pick or the equivalent for Nick Paul.

Try again.

I think Ottawa pulls the trigger on that if they can’t find a 2nd elsewhere. Not the ideal return for Paul but not terrible either.

Sabres decline, the past few seasons have shown how much we need center depth, and Thompson has been our most productive center this year. Also, he plays center much better than winger.

Pens probably accept. That gives them a backup option if Malkin doesn’t resign and just a good change of scenery trade. Pick may need upgraded a round cause I think Backlund has the extra year

Dube can play center too, he's having a subpar season though

So why would we trade our most productive center for him and a 2nd then?

Why?
We need to give Dvorak a look with a better coach before trading him for less than his acquisition price.
Monahan isn't going to perform any better in Montreal regardless, and is only under contract for next year.
Emilio Pettersson is just meh.

I don't like Dvorak's commitment, he seems disinterested in playing for Montreal. I have seen enough of him lol.

Well he did think he had finally escaped the bottom of the league, only to find out he didn't. Sticking Out Tongue

I know Drouin is lazy sometimes and you learn to live with and expect that but Dvorak seems disconnected from the team and disinterested on the ice. I will admit I have not watched a Habs game in about a week so maybe he is playing better lately.
