Can’t see Backlund returning a 1st

Personally, as talented as Gaudreau is, Im not sure if hes the type of player that would work for the brand of hockey the Rangers play. Id rather the Rangers go after Pavelski or Giroux, they would fit here like a glove with their prowess at faceoffs and flexibility to from RW to C with ease.

Loosing to Tampa, Florida, and Carolina are not done deals on the playoffs. Pacific is too wide open to fall out easily too

Detroit isn't making the playoffs so its more likely a trade with Detroit won't be made until the off season.

If the Bruins make a move for a center, it’ll be an expiring UFA. I’m sure Backlund would be great between Hall and Pastrnak, I’m not sure if the Flames would want to get rid of him just yet.

Backlund is a 3C at best. He will turn 33, has a $5.35M cap hit and a M-NTC. No thanks.
