Yeah exactly. Look at all the records set in the 20's and early 30's, theyre nearly impossible to break. The game back then was completely different. Normal scores would be upwards of 15g/ game. The goalies couldn't fall, like you said forward pass wasnt allowed, they even had a rover position. You almost have to distinguish between early and modern, modern IMO started around WW2.

If Meier only played last game with the Habs, he'd be 4th on team in goals.

WAR Models have always been bullish on 1st pairing defensemen on crappy teams. Chychrun is also among the worst this season. Does that make the GM who trades a 1st+ for him foolish as well? Chiarot is not a 1st pairing defenseman but has been deployed like one. He's actually decent on a second pairing, provides intangibles & plays a playoffs-style hockey that actually wins you rounds.

Both of his competitors were former players as well, and both have played for the Habs in the last decade (Brière & Darche).

I'm pretty sure he had to quit his job to become GM. Although, I'm sure they do have a good relationship so there's definitely an advantage there.
