You could also have made the argument to swap Keller and Terry then Vejmelka and Gibson

I feel like that’s recency bias because he stood on his head against Toronto. He’s been average or below average on a bad team most of the year. Markstrom’s a top 5 Vezina contender and far and away the best goalie in the division this year.

I don't care for Jim Matheson and find this very amusing, but equally I find it hilarious that people think him and McDavid are the leadership group that will contain Evander Kane lol

I’ve been saying Kane to EDM is a mistake since day one - can’t wait for the reporters to cause a complete mess once he arrives.

I don't think anyone believes him and McDavid will be able to set Kane straight, especially after McDavid's presser.

Lol I was watching the Oilers v Sens game on HNIC and the broadcasters were all like "yeah anyone who gets Kane needs a strong leadership group and the Oilers have that in McDavid and Draisaitl, they have respect around the league" and I think this is a popular narrative in hockey (especially hockey media), but being good at hockey does not make you a good leader, and being respected for your on-ice skills does not give you respect as a leader.

Does anybody know of a site for hockey stats that shows period splits? I know hockey reference has split stats for things like points in a game by home/away, conference, division, opponent, win/loss, etc. but period isn't one of them. And then their scoring log page shows every point scored, and that does have period, but you have to sort and then do some math (which I don't mind but is still subpar), rather than just see a number. This is the best way I've found so far, but you still have to manually count it if you want to know goals/assists by period. By the end of the year this will be unreasonable for high scoring players (who are ultimately the ones you'd care about).

It also starts at the leadership positions and clearly Tippett and Holland aren’t very… “inspiring” lol

The nice thing for the Habs is that he isn't going to go top 10 and there are clearly better players for the Habs to draft with their own 1st, but if they do get another 1st (i.e. from Toffoli or Chiarot somehow) it'll likely be from a contender selecting in the 20-30 range, which is where Jack Hughes should probably go anyway. If he slips to the 2nd, he's probably top 3 BPA by that point (at least based on current scouting, maybe something changes by the draft). So if they do end up drafting his kid, it's probably not going to be egregious.
