Stars reject, I wouldn’t trade Gurianov one for one for Barrie, he's an important asset to our re-build. When Bones gets the can he'll show his true upside.

If Dallas were to trade Barrie it’d be for picks.

Really don’t want Khudobin, but I’d do that for Gurianov. Would suspect stars fans would want more for him though.

Really want Soucy on the oilers, but don’t think it should come at the cost of Yamo. I get you’re also dumping Kassian, but I also see Kassian being a nice piece for Seattle, although he hasn’t played good recently. Maybe just make the deal like Soucy for Lagesson+Turris (some cap)+3rd?

Loss a contract for next year and replace Klingburg. Cap space costs $$$. Oilers retaining on this year too.

It's not 1 for 1 though. It's a way to get a contract off the books next year too.

I get that, I’m just saying that Gurianov is an important part of our future and that I wouldn’t want to trade him in a deal where the biggest part of the deal is Tyson Barrie.

You should get that Dallas aren’t in a position to compete now, maybe in the future which is why Dallas would keep Gurianov because he is an important part of the team’s future. Dobby’s contract is the least if our worries since it’ll only be for next year (which we won’t compete so it doesn’t matter), after that it’s off the books. In the future Dallas probably won’t have Bowness so Gurianov could unlock his full potential.

Man thats lots of big contracts to not be competing. if you arent winning now then you arent winning in near future with the contracts you have

The majority of our big contracts will end in less then 4 year which isn’t that long for a re-tool. Dobby’s expires after this year, Radulov and Pavelski will most likely be gone off of our cap this year, Klingberg will also probably be gone off of our hands this year, after that Benn, Lindell, Suter and Faksa all expire 2 years after Dobby. The only contract that’s going to be with us for long is Seguin’s.

We’re barley missing the playoffs year after year with the worst head coach in the league, what do you think we’ll be able to do with an actual competent coach? I can tell you that if we can get an actual good coach in a couple of years we’ll be back competing, it’s just not now.

After Dobby’s contract expires is probably when we’ll start competing again, or soon after.

It's honestly an awful trade. Why would the Stars be so concerned to lose a contract of $2 mill on the cap that they will give up the better and younger player, and another RHD that is a value contract? So that they can take Barrie with term and money? Lol they actually end up with more money on the cap (if cap was the concern- which it's not so much next year). Makes zero sense. They probably even value Hakanpaa as equivalent to Barrie. I definitely do, especially with the salary difference. I wouldn't do Hakanpaa for Barrie straight up. That's not even including the Gurianov aspect. That's not a player you trade as an attachment for a salary dump. Especially when you really don't need it and are actually adding a higher cap hit. This trade is so bad I think I'm repeating myself.

This tells me that you really don't understand what a cap is and what value is. Also tells me your inability to identify what a top4 dman is. Wild thing to see- someone on capfriendly having zero understanding of the cap.
