why would oilers trade a cheap cost controlled top 6 (now on the top line as of todays practice) for brendan dillon at full price.

Dallas might accept simply because that 1st looks to be pretty high in the draft

I'd love the Habs trade but the Jets organization loves Lowry for some reason and Montreal wouldn't make that deal anyway.

Jets aren't trading Stastny to a non playoff team and they shouldn't trade their 1st for a rental anyway.

Seems like a lot for John Klingberg, And Detroit 100% accepts the Sam Gagner trade.

first off because its Ken Holland. He traded away Caleb Jones for Duncan Keith. Oilers need to do something and Yamamoto might be the odd man out. Jesse P is getting top line minutes and Yamamoto isn't. It is probably a far fetch but Ken Holland is very unpredictable. The only players not going to be traded are Leon and Connor.

caleb jones was not good and has been not good in chicago.

Yamamoto is playing on the top line with Mcdavid.

Puljujarvi is also not going to be traded.

Ken holland is not trading away impact players.

The first trade is a no from Winnipeg. That is way too much to give up for a rental that the Jets don't have the cap space to re-sign. The Jets should not give up their first for any rental.

The Yamamoto trade is terrible for Winnipeg, as the Jets are trading a defenseman they need for a forward they have no use for.

Montreal would want more in the Tafolli trade and the Jets shouldn't waste a pick on another player that does nothing for them in the Detroit trade.

That's not anywhere close for Montreal. They laugh and hang up.

Klingberg is a defenseman they need. Dillion is not a defenseman they need. Samberg has shown he is really close to being an every day NHLer. Chisholm the same and Heinola needs NHL time before he turns into Sami Niku. We all know how that turned out for the Jets. Klingberg brings the Jets a much needed top 4 defenseman to play with Morrissey who is a right hand shot. I think there will be room to re-sign Klingberg next season. Copp I think will be gone and you don't re-sign Stastny and there is room.

Also Montreal needs a shake up and Toffoli isn't the answer there. The Jets need more right hand shot wingers. Toffoli would be a huge asset to the top 6 of the Jets. I think a Lowry type player is what Montreal needs. A big bodied center who can play any kind of mins. 5v5, PP, and PK. The Jets have David Gustavson who can be a cheaper version of Lowry. Sam Gagner would also be a great use in Winnipeg. Besides Scheifele there are no right hand shot centres. It would be really nice to have another one. Plus he is cheap and has veteran leadership who would fit nicely on the 4th line.

Windjammer I'm really interested to know what you think the Jets need since your so quick to point out what the Jets don't need.

Well the Klingberg trade makes no sense for the Jets simply because it's such a massive overpay for a rental. If he wants to come to Winnipeg, just wait to sign him in the off season. Throwing away that many good assets for a couple months of a player is way too short sighted.

Yamamoto is useless. He's a tiny winger that can't score while stapled to McDavid and Draisaitl. It's easy to find tiny wingers that can't score. Dillon gives the Jets defensive depth and time to bring the young guys in properly. If the Jets were trading Dillon for something they needed fine, but a low end winger is nothing Winnipeg needs.

Gagner is 32 and an upcoming UFA. Why waste assets on him when he won't make any difference one way or the other this season? If the Jets want him that badly, sign him in the summer.

You wanting Montreal to accept that trade doesn't change the fact that they won't make it. I imagine they will want a first and/or young players. Not a soon to be 29 YO player.

The Jets need to change the core of the team. Overpaying for rentals, or taking on deadweight from other teams does nothing to accomplish that or improve the core of the team or even improve the overall talent of the team.
