Habs want it conditional…..goes to a 5th if he plays 20 games before the start of the playoffs and a 4th if he plays half of the first round games.

I'd be okay with that. Fabbro should be back before those conditions kick in. I'm not sure how that playoff condition would work though. Would that be playing in 3 or 4 games of a 7 game series?

How about Kyle Burroughs for a 5th or McCarron?

Habs reject. Minimum is a 5th. Conditional to make it a 4th if he plays at least half of the games including the regular season and the playoffs

Habs would not play hard ball with a complete non factor player like Wideman. A 6th rounder is perfectly fine and saying anything otherwise is silly. Yes they would accept this, without hesitation.

Maybe but probably not this far from the deadline.

And risk not getting a buyer or a worse return near the TDL? Why? Over Chris Wideman and a 6th rounder?

I legit think Wideman may not even be picked up at the TDL.

He is not even an NHL'er IMHO. If there was no covid, he'd have been placed on waivers months ago and probably cleared.

No risk…vast majority of 6 and 7 rounders never play.

And if he’s that bad….the conditions would never be met. So it would be a 6th.

Players of such low importance generally don't have any conditions added to their deal. That's usually saved for players with value that the team trading can negotiate in because the other team really wants the player. Do you honestly believe any GM is actively shopping for Wideman? I mean if the condition was offered from Nashville stating that the pick only transfers if Wideman plays X games, I would be fine with that. Habs using Widemans steller record to negotiate a better draft pick if he plays x games? That seems rich for such a nobody pending UFA.

If I'm another GM, the minute Gorton says "Ok but I want a condition on the 6th round draft pick for Wideman", I hang up. The amount of time spent having to negotiate a condition on this low of player already outweighs the benefit you'd potentially get from Wideman.

I dunno, I see such an insignificant deal offered above, and the first two comments from Habs fans are they decline and they want conditions............... rolling eyes

"Complete non factor" that's strong words for the guy who is one of our best defenders every night. I don't think Montreal even considers this trade.

Chris Wideman???? flushed cheeks

My goodness, MTL fans. Stop. I'm a MTL fan too. I watch every game just like you. This is starting to get out of hand now.

The Habs are the worst defending team in the league. On pace for the worst season in their history.

Chris Wideman??? Really??? We are the ones turning down trade offers now??
