I don't see Calgary doing that. We need cheap money as much as possible for next year. No interest in Debrusk with him being able to command 4 mill or something and Reilly with his 3 mill deal. I would rather our young guys get a chance

Try Lysell and a 1st. Hertl instantly becomes your 2nd best offensive player. It starts with Lysell and ends with the absence of Lysell. This pile of literal useless crumb does not even scratch the surface of Hertl's value.

Why do people think rentals get this kind of return. They don’t.

Alright, so you think hertl, with one 50 point season on his resume is better offensively than bergeron and pastrnak? Both have outscored hertl each of the last six years. The last full season the NHL had pastrnak lead the league in goals.

What are you on about here?

But the Canucks fan who made this post added a 1st and Steen as well so you’d have to add that just to equal his package for Bergeron who is worth more than Hertl.

      Ahh hyperbole not comparable.

Ok. Thing is 1st/2nd/good young player is a legit offer. As much as SJ fans think Hertl is worth 3 1sts as a rental…he isn’t. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That being said SJ does decline. All signs point to them trying to re-sign him. Now that Kane is gone he might be willing. They will end up regretting it. Half way through his next deal he will start to decline. And by the end of it he will be a detriment. Father Time always wins.

Love the idea of Ullmark coming to Edmonton. The Oilers will require that a contract goes the other way in order to make the cap work though.

Would you trade Ullmark for Kassian, a 2nd round pick and a prospect, say, Samarukov?

San Jose isn't going to be truly competitive again until the contracts of Karlsson, Burns, and Vlasic expire, maybe even Couture's as well. I don't see how Hertl would consider re-signing when the team is headed for an impending rebuild in 4-5 years time

Ya. Strome sucks. Everyone sort of knows it. That’s why he’s in so many trades on here, and its always underwhelming.

      Anyway, what happened to bergeron?

Hughes is a string bean former 6th round pick that has aged out as a prospect (25) and will never be more than a spare part.
