Not enough value for Dallas. Boston's a tough partner, because there's really not a prospect they have that Dallas NEEDS in a Klingberg trade. Fine having DeBrusk in the trade, but Dallas is going to need at minimum a 1st in addition to a prospect or two coming back in the deal as well. Clifton isn't negative value, but he doesn't do much at all for Dallas.

Yet they called on him.

Half of that is not true. Dallas does decline this. But Boston has options that would be of interest, and you are not getting a 1st and 2 high end prospects +.

Not saying "high end prospects." Depending on who the prospect is that's being added, a 2nd prospect (or pick) may need to be added for value. If I'm being honest, I think the only "high end" prospect in the Bruins pool is Fabian Lysell (who won't be involved in a hypothetical Klingberg trade). After that, you've got guys like Studnicka, Lauko, Vaakanainen, Beecher, etc. that are all decent prospects, but I wouldn't consider any of them "high end"

DeBrusk is more a cap dump & reclamation project than a value piece at this point, so a late 1st & a couple of the guys listed above (again, not Lysell) should be on the table IF Boston were serious about trading for Klingberg, which I doubt they are. As stated by another user above, Boston needs LD help, not RD.

You forgot Lohrei as a high end prospect.

Just for comparison. When Boston traded Bourque (along with Andeychuk) to Avs the return was 1st/Rolston/and 2 low end prospects.

Similar move wouid be JK and Radulov for 1st/Debrusk/Senyshyn/Hughes.

Something along the lines of 1st/Debrusk and low end prospect is a reasonable expectation. 1st/Zboril would be better for Dallas with Boston finding a way to make $ in a separate deal.

People on here have gotten incredibly unrealistic with expectations of returns as of late.

Boston should not be interested but they are. 🤷🏻‍♂️

100% this. All of the good d prospects are lefties, Stud fizzled, doubt they move Lysell… Clifton is under six foot and doesn’t produce much offense. Just don’t see the fit here. I could be wrong

clifton may be under 6ft but watch him play he hits harder and is more physical then most Dmen that are taller then 6'3 in the NHL.
Clifton also never was an offensive guy he was a hard working speedster that hits everything in sight which might be good for dallas they are already set on the offensive side this season with suter, heiskanen, and harley who should become a solid offensive dman.

I don' think cap will be an issue bruins will have 8.2 mill in deadline cap space. if debrusk is moved in the klingberg deal the cap only moves 575,000 add cliffy now we actually gain 425,000k in cap.

as for fit i know we are looking for a LHD but i see what sweeney could be doing with the reverse tampa and having a stacked one side. if you look at how the lines would look after they are actually pretty nice

Grzzz- Mcavoy
Forbort- Klingberg
Reilly-Carlo

Grzz and chucky are a good 2 way line, though grzz isn't physical he can show off a high IQ to disrupt plays at times

forbort is the perfect fit for klingberg, forbort is the stay home guy while klingberg generates the offence for the 2nd line not to mention this line is big 6'4 and 6'3

reilly and carlo is another line that is reliable in the dzone but both guys also show flashes of good offence at times. reilly is a good passer and ive been in impressed with offensive IQ and knowing where to be to generate a scoring opportunity and same goes with carlo his offensive game has took a jump too he actually moves with the puck quite well and is starting to shoot a lot more.

I know the big targets everyone wants is 2C and 1LHD but if klingberg can bring the best out of forbort then that is fine with me and as for 2C, haula has looked pretty darn good so far with hall and pasta that line generates a lot of scoring opportunities and also generates a lot of turnovers in the offensive zone because they are so quick to press and pressure the defence. they outta be one of the fastest lines in the league aswell.

for me i say don't fix what isn't broken which is the offence at this current point, as for the D we still need more D scoring yes Grzzz has stepped up as of recently but mcavoy can't be expected to completely carry that Defence's point production, klingberg takes a lot of weight off mcavoy's back in that department.
Mcavoy is arguably the best 2 way dman in the league but he isn't a makar or karlsson or even fox really who are more offensive orientated i feel like his offensive game still needs a little bit more fine tuning before we start seeing him put up around 70-75 points which i think he is capable of but not yet.
