Habs decline. Had a chance to claim Nic a couple months ago and didn't.

I don't think the value is there regardless of the GM

Maybe they had a 1st and MTL consider
Lehkonen is 10000000X the player NAK is
Lehkonen is our only guy (ok we can include Jake Evans) that present himself every single night. He’s been our most consistent forward. Why does he needs a change of scenery ??

he's on pace for 29 points. he probably wants to play a more offensive role. he's 11th in ice time among forwards on his team with at least 5 games played. he's not getting a chance in montreal.

No, not for Lehkonen. Aubé-Kubel was waived recently and found success on *surprise* a top-3 team in the NHL. Lehkonen is not being dealt for a worse roster player.

in the end they are both 4th line forwards. hughes may just decide to save himself a $1+ and bring in a guy he knows. he gets an extra year of rfa status too

Thing is, Lehkonen is a solid 3rd liner and is well worth the $1M over NAK. It's not because he's new in the job that he'll help Colorado like that by selling low to get familiar faces.

lehky is 11th among habs forwards in ice time, he isn't even a 3rd liner on the habs, let alone a playoff team. he's a 4th liner.

pretty hard to argue that case when the habs are the worst team in the league and depleted by injuries yet he still isn't getting played. his ice time has been dropping for years too.

Last year the team was super deep on the wings, this year they have arguably their worst coach ever. You can think he's a 4th liner if it pleases you, but there's not a single stat that can prove it.

ice time is pretty telling. especially on a bottom feeder. ahl call ups are getting more time.

i think he needs a change on scenery. even on the avs he's the 11th best forward.

Yeah it's pretty telling because the coach has no clue. He could need a change of scenery, but it'd be for a better return than that.

Lehkonen and Evans both started on the 4th line & ended up on the 1st line with Suzuki. Now Lehkonen bounces between the 1st line and the 3rd line. The reason Lehkonen gets less ice-time is because he doesn’t get PP time and on the PK, he always clear the zone while Dauphin and the others are stuck in our own end until the opposite team scores

Been saying for a while that Lehkonen will likely end up in Colorado at some point. Good forechecker, good PKer, and decent metrics, which is well suited to Colorado. Ideally Avs would get a more physical forward and/or a center at the deadline, but Lehkonen would be a fine addition in isolation, assuming that the price isn't much more than a 3rd or so.
