Sens post-deadline wishlist

Created by: spicybois
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2022
Published: Jan. 19, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Colin White gets a few weeks to save his career. Pinto comes back and the Sens roll three decent lines for the first time all season. I picked Minny for Tierney at random; really don't care where he goes or what the Sens get back for him. J. Brown is fired into the sun (Edmonton) via Forsberg sweetener. Profit.

Ennis gone. Sanford gone. Gambrell gone. And for the love of God, get a deal done with Nick Paul for 3 or 4 years at $2.5M or less OR trade him as well. Waiting until after the deadline to find out he wants more than the team will pay would be insanely dumb of the organization - but I wouldn't be shocked by it!!

I could see them keeping Ennis like they did Dzingel last year to keep the team semi-competitive down the stretch. they don't have the prospect logjam at wing like they do with D (Sanderson, JBD, Brannstrom, etc) at the moment. I really hope they keep Paul.

No reason play White as 4C. Don't learn anything from that. Put him on the wing in the top 6. If he's still got a spot on this team it'll be there. He and Tkachuk have played well together in the past, and would allow for Batherson to be moved to the Stützle line full time. White with Stützle would also work. Has good wheels to go with Formenton and Timmy, and gives Stutzle a right shot natural C to help on draws. Would be a very responsible line defensively while being very dangerous with speed. (Stützle lowkey has been one of Ottawa's best defensive forwards this year).

There's also not much point in keeping Sanford or Gambrell. Get what you can get, and go young the rest of the way. Ennis I can see keeping. It's a good fit for the team and player, and he's not gonna be a valuable asset. Could see him taking a string of 1 year deals to stay in Ottawa, where he's found a fit that's been missing for a long time with him.

Colin White's career is not in danger in any way, shape or form... unless the current injury has diminished him physically.

If the Sens buy him out (Melnyk likes money), another NHL team will sign him for sure. Actually, there'd be a bit of a bidding war.

Dorion seems like a procrastinator (remember Stone and Tkachuk situations?). He seems to think he has ample time... until there's none left. But he goes out and rush to sign Zub when there was no rush... Go figure.
