They don't need people to fill roster spots... Samuelsson-Dahlin, Power-Jokiharju, Bryson-Pysyk. The 6 spots are filled with players better than him. And that's assuming no other prospects make the jump or anyone else is signed... To say nobody likes Buffalo is a flat-out lie... I agree he's a decent dman, I probably like him more than the average hockey fan, but he doesn't fit on Buffalo's growth pathway... It's not meant to offend you or shut you down, just to say that it needs to be modified.

There's no reason not to take Holl for a test drive, then move him in the summer if we aren't interested in keeping him. Otherwise I completely disagree with your assessment of next year's roster, you WANT more than 6 regulars at training camp because that creates competition for jobs, which is a good thing. Plus defensemen get injured a lot, so you want some proven veterans who can step into the lineup on any given night.

I disagree when you're at the spot they are. "Veterans to jump in on any given night" just leads to playing time being taken away from the prospects who need it. None of those 6 should be out of the lineup when healthy. They would obviously have a 7th or even an 8th dman on league minimum deals in the press box to step in for injuries and after that it's better to let Fitzgerald, Johnson, and Laaksonen step in and get their feet wet for a game or two.
