Tough to say. He has been in cold spell in recent games.
Probably late 1st plus lesser prospect...or decent prospect plus 2nd...or good prospect and mid-rounder.
      Something like that.

      Jets decline.
Zero need for Vesey or any other LW or LD.
Now if Severson is available, we can talk

PK isn’t even close to the Canes radar. Think you’d have to pay the Canes and a second team to take him at 75% retained. Even at 25% salary…no really reason for the Canes to take him for 3rd pairing mins. He won’t play consistently over Brendan Smith, Ian Cole or Ethan Bear.

No, I think we will be re-signing him. If we don't extend him, it would be at 2023 deadline if we are out of playoffs.
(in other words...to many "ifs" to consider trading him).

I don't believe Severson will be made available.

I put Winnipeg there for Vesey since he is an impact guy on Penalty Kill.
He is a big part of how NJD went from #31 PK last year to #11 this year.

Canes, Bruins are the two teams I see often linked to Klingberg...so I assumed both looking for RD rental.
Subban would be a plan B.
At 50%, he is $4.5 million to Klingberg's $4.25 million....and likely less in trade value.

You see PK Subban ‘linked’ to the Canes? Find new sources. SO MANY issues with salary, rental status, etc…no chance he goes to a team riding on LTIR cap space.

Plan B (Subban) involves so many moving parts to make a $9M salary work for anyone I just don’t see it working for the Canes, or almost every other team too.

At 50% retained - there are so many better rental D players for cheaper. Devils will be better letting that one expire on the books.

If a team has room for Klingberg's $4.25m, they can probably fit Subban at $4.5m.
(also, it would only be for one-fifth of a season, so its probably easier to fit than most think)

I could see the Jets doing that, although they really shouldn't be spending assets on rentals with the position they are in.

Hasn't Penalty Kill been a weakness this year?
I believe the Devils commentators spoke about it when Devils played Jets recently.

I don't think his trade value would be much. Late pick, forgotten prospect.
It would be just as much about opening an everyday spot for Nolan Foote for us.

PK and PP is an issue with the Jets although it has looked better under Lowry, but I haven't checked to see if the actual numbers back up the eye test. I definitely could see the Jets making a low key move like this though.

I just don't think they should, unless they make a run and are at the wild card cut off line. Where they aur right now, it's pointless buying rentals as the Jets should be selling.

Canes are rolling with LTIR cap space only the entire year, so your comment about only being 1/5 the season isn’t 100% true. Subbans cap hit can is lower when you look at it like that, but the Canes cap space is not. They are one of many teams in the league floating on LTIR and not accruing daily cap space relief. They have $1.7M cap space available to use today, and that same amount available on deadline day. They are very close to money in money out.

If I’m looking for depth…Canes have 10-12 NHL caliber defenseman under contract. Only reason to make a move is for a difference maker, and Subban is not one any longer.

      I looked it up.

Jets special teams before coaching change vs after change

      PP: 20% (13th) vs 26.1% (8th)
      PK: 69.5% (31st) vs 84.2% (9th)

      Pretty solid turnaround

Thanks. I was too lazy. smile and maybe scared of what I might find. flushed cheeks

Lowry seems to be using a more aggressive PK with more speed on it. With any luck that will continue and it's nice to see the numbers backup the eye test.

Don't see the Avs trading Barron for Zacha. You might get the late first and a lesser prospect maybe that you mentioned above.
