Your traded might be fair. But I doubt Vlasic waives for Montreal. Much better living in ambiguity in San Jose, than be criticized daily by the Montreal press for his 7m cap hit.

Probably, but at the same time he’s from Montreal so he might want to play for the habs before his last seasons

Problem is he is slowly finding himself out of the lineup in SJ. If he is someone whose very prideful and wants to play, this may be his only option to do so. If Habs rebuild, he could be a good vet to help teach the youngsters and still actually play while getting his FULL salary. His contract isn't buyout proof so he may very well be bought out eventually so it may be in his best interest IF that is the case. Probably isn't but IF it were, it could work.
IF SJ had belief in Price still being good and this was offered, it could work but I think SJ would also have to send a goalie back like Dell. Offsetting the salary and cap hit difference between the two players even more. Just Vlasic for Price might not be enough. Plus any picks going back to MTL would be conditional and only sent based on Prices performance wth SJ. If he sucks, Habs get nada but the slight cap relief, if he does well, then they also get some compensation.

Sharks would never do this. So your only way is not a way at all. Vlasic, when interviewed at the end of last year was asked if he would waive his NMC and he sternly stated San Jose is the only place he wants to play. I don't see him waiving for MTL.. He hates the media and would be constantly hounded in MTL. In SJ he only has to worry about 3 beat writers who are all very respectful of the Sharks players.

Sharks aren’t giving up a 2nd to take on a longer more expensive contract at a position they currently don’t need. Try again.

and only plays 14 mins a night on average but yes you are right, he was only scratched technically once. He'll only decline from this point on so if he is playing less than 14 mins a night, he might as well be scratched because the coach certainly doesn't want to use him and is only keeping him there for posterity because he is a SJ vet out of respect. Eventually he'll only cost SJ games.

this is a classic both teams trying to dig out of a hole by digging deeper. neither team should do this.

I won't argue that Vlasic is awful but I'd rather Vlasic's contract than Price's. No sharks fan is going to argue Vlasic's decline. Save your breath, you're telling us nothing we don't know lol

I don’t totally agree. Yes Price is injured, but if he come back at his full potential it could be a huge trade for the sharks!

Contrary to other people I don’t actually hate the idea of this because Price’s bounce back potential is higher than Vlasic’s.

But the issue is that Price being $3.5M more expensive than Vlasic totally blows and I don’t like what this would do to our currently good goalie tandem.

And even though Vlasic is probably worse than Price I’m not sure the Sharks should be the ones adding given how risky taking on Price could be. But that’s kind of beside the point.

but why? montreal is closer to competing than the sharks a d the sharks have 2 goaltenders playing pretty well for us already. we need offense not goaltending.

Because we don’t have any upcoming franchise player and we don’t have any number 1 defenseman

ok…. that still doesn’t answer the question why would this benefit the sharks? we have 2 goaltenders playing well making combined 4.5 mil even if you add jones buyout we’re still only paying our net minders 5.85 mil combined this year.
and Price is not twice as good but he will cost twice as much, he also is in his second rehab stint this year. this would be a horrendous move by the sharks.
