Ducks easily decline, McTavish isnt going to be traded, Comtois and our first might but that would be the absolute max we give up for Chychurn

The pick would be lottery protected in each of the next 2 drafts though for ANA to even consider trading it

I really can’t see us trading for Chychrun at all

All hinges on what happens with Lindholm, if he stays we're probably out on Chychurn, if he goes we're probably at the front of the line with ARI

Who would Kessel take out of the lineup? He's a right winger, thats all he can play. Would he take Nylander or Marner out of their positions? Would he fit on the 3rd line and take Kase? A defensive unit tasked with playing hard minutes in their own zone? Would we really want to spend that much for a 4th liner and then sit Simmonds who's been really good for us this year? Kessel has no place in TO.v

That’s fair, use assets we’d get for Hampus and flip them for Chychrun

What has Chychrun done to demand these type of returns. I know they have said they want an Eichel return but i find his value more in the Dougie Hamilton to Calgary or Seth Jones to Chi.
or 1-1 type trade for a young center

Don't think that Anaheim trade is to far off. Chychrun is a Norris caliber defenseman whose only 23 and has a very team friendly contract. While McTavish can very well be a top line center in the future, there's no guarantee where as Chychrun has already proven he can be one of the best defenseman in the league despite playing for a terrible team. The first round pick is also a crab shoot, Anaheim's pick this year will likely be a mid-round pick, while there's certainly the possibility of drafting a future nhl players there's also no guarantee that draft pick will ever even play in the NHL let alone be a productive player. Don't think Comtois would be part of the deal, the Ducks would probably want Arizona to take on someone with a bigger cap in this deal. Overall it could be a slight over payment for a Chychrun but with Armstrong who knows. Dude managed to get a 1st & Timmins for Kuemper plus Gostisbehere & a 2nd for nothing.

Los Angeles is the wrong place for Travis Boyd and my friend @PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood is right that Toronto is the wrong place for Phil Kessel.

I don't mind giving up draft picks for Chychrun (say, this year's first and next year's second) as well as other assets, but developing players with very high upsides like Comtois and McTavish should be out of the question. They will be nearing their anticipated ceilings just when Chychrun's contract runs out, and then still under team control for more term.

By the way, the idea that our first-round pick this year "will likely be a mid-round pick" is optimistic. The most likely scenario is that when all Pacific Division teams have played exactly 41 games, Anaheim will be fifth or sixth in the division and well behind Winnipeg for the second wild-card slot,

I think you are bang on here. I do think the Ducks absolutely could make the playoffs though. I think you are better than San Jose but Calgary is likely going to finish 2nd in the division. Edmonton could challenge as well but I think they are done.
