Description
I was listening to Craig Button on the Donnie and Dali podcast the other day and Button provided what I thought was some interesting insight. He was asked what Miller would be worth and Button said a 1st round pick and an ELITE prospect, otherwise he wouldn’t trade Miller.
He then referenced a trade he made in the past when he was GM of the Flames. He said teams were calling about Nieuwendyk, and how he refused to make the deal unless there was an ELITE prospect coming back and that’s how he eventually got Iginla.
Button did not mention anything about a possible Miller trade to the NYR, however I think the we can apply the same principles apply here. I think it’s likely Vancouver waits for an elite prospect (or at least an A prospect) coming back before trading Miller. I see a lot of trade proposals for Miller cantered around Lundkvist (not an elite prospect) , but I think if the NYR want Miller badly enough it will cost them Schneider. Otherwise there will likely be another team that will offer up a package that includes the elite piece the Canucks want included.

I don't think they would trade Schneider, probably Kravstov or Lundqvist instead. The first rounder does make the most sense though.

Looks like a fair trade to me. If I were Vancouver, I would rather take Schneider and lesser pick than Kravtsov or Lundqvist and higher pick....if the choice came down to that.

Point per game player for the last 3 seasons on a steal of a contract vs some dude with 2 NHL and you said you wouldn’t trade him for Eichel lol

no i said NYR wouldn't trade him for eichel. the reason JT miller is a bit fit for NYR is most of his points come on the PP and he would not crack NYR's PP1 which would slow his production down tremendously. At 5v5 miller is just an average player. Would much rather have pavelski or smith.

kids tough and physical on the backend (the new regimes wet dream) and shows offensive upside. there's not much to dislike abt him from the rangers stand point. i think his floor is a steady middle pair rock on defense w small offensive upside which is still an amazing asset

I would not call it an overrating, I would call it being future-proof once Trouba is sent packing after his NMC expires (after next season) because he is simply too expensive for us.

Then why do 99% of Canuck and Habs fans demand he be part of any trade?

Schneider is NOT AVAILABLE so no retention needed. Find JT a home elsewhere if Schneider is a must.

I apologize to you all, for some reason my description of the team was not posted, I have re-added it. It includes a piece of an interview from Craig Button and the reason for the AGM in the first place.

Lundkvist was actually a higher ranked prospect going into this year (look up any prospect ranking) the thing is rangers already have enough undersized defenseman that they won’t give up the one with the attributes they tried to build this past summer.
