Pocklington was in financial trouble and needed the money. Bruce McNall took advantage.

Since you're no longer allowed to include cash in trades anymore, there's no equivalent in today's NHL or justification for trading away the best player on the planet.

this is a serious question.... do you think the oilers would be a better TEAM if they made this move... assume all prospects pan out. would that be worth it long term?

If Byfield turns into Malkin and Clarke turns into someone like Dougie Hamilton, never mind the other pieces . It’s already a win
