Easy no from habs. Lavoie is of no interest. Chiarot is a 1st. Toffoli is not the same as Barrie. Toffoli is a 1st plus.

It’s a lot I know. But that’s the way it is.

Why bother making any trades if you plan on running Derek Ryan as your third center? Eliminating his team-leading -13 needs to be addressed.

how does Lavoie have no value for the habs? i agree that splitting toffoli and Chiarot into seperate deals probably makes more sense, i thnk if you add a 2nd round pick (almost enough to get chiarot ) its a pretty decent offer. Barrie may not be a player the habs want but hes got a little value left on the market.

More like the players don't want play for habs

Keep dreaming on 1st picks.
No NHL team going give number 1 pick for rentals

Unless Nick S coming back. Which I don't blame him on asking for trade soon

thats fair. Never seen a team give a 1st round pick for a rental since...oh almost every single TDL.
Also toffoli isnt a rental but good try.

On my post with the Oilers, there's a similar discussion about Barrie for Hoffman instead; and this is a more fair swap considering both pieces have term and have not worked out well for either team this season. Both are PP specialists and are 1-dimensional, but both could find their stride on the opposite team respectively.

Fleury gets a 1st, especially with the Turris dump.

Fleury doesn't get a first in this situation where Blackhawks retain nothing and the Oilers are retaining 50% on Koskinen, If the salary retainment is flipped where Fleury is $2.5-$3.5 retained and Koskinen is full value, then yes I'd agree on the first. The Turris dump is kinda pointless here. Just retain less on Koskinen if you're going to include Turris. And overall, the Turris dump is pretty inconsequential... 25% of a year of a $1.65mil cap hit.

Fair, I'm not even sure why OP is making the Oilers retain here. Just give us the dumps and a 1st, we'll worry about cap for now.

I get why they aren't, but I really wish NTCs were published from a fan perspective so I knew who was legitimately an option. As this downward spiral continues, I'd really want to know if Varlamov or Fleury are actually options or if the players have the option to block it.

First we have tons of wingers, but that aside, I’ve seen him a dozen times in Halifax in juniors. In his draft , I had him outside the top 3 rounds. He got by in juniors because of his talent but he has no hockey IQ and he looks almost overwhelmed out there. Even at the WJC, he looked like a fish out of water. Has not done anything since his draft year to change my mind. In the NHL it’s not enough to just be talented. I think hes a bust so I want no part in him.

Also I noticed when Holland was speaking the other day and he was naming off a bunch of the prospects/young players, he named a good dozen players of which none were Lavoie so it gives you a pretty good idea of what hw thinks of him. If Holland thought of him more highly, his name obviously would have been mentioned

If we were getting Ottawa Kyle Turris then take out Koskinen and add the first

Thats fair i honestly havent seen him play all that much since he was drafted. I will say that i expect the habs to be moving some of our vet wingers out soon, during this rebuild-retooling wte it will end up being. I see more upside to having Lavoie in that deal though as a flyer prospect that may not amount to anything, than Barrie who i assume we would have to then flip for more assets.
