Varlamov has been a top 10 goaltender over the last 3 seasons

Because the Isles are a very good defensive team, And that isn't the problem, the Oilers are team needs all the depth it can get, if the oilers are gonna do that it is gonna be for picks and/or prospects

Haven't ever really considered Nelson when thinking about the 2c slot for the Bruins

I'm open to that, would hope to find a way to avoid giving up a 1st for him but if thats the price then so be it

Agreed, but we have to take age into account, also term. He is one and a half years left… will he resign… I don’t know about that. Maybe, but it depends on if we are contending or not. We won’t give a young guy like Yamamoto that is on the roster for Varlamov.

I’m not sure a ‘23 2nd makes up the difference between Bolduc and Brannstrom. 1 goal in 26 games this year doesn’t exactly inspire hope. Would much rather hedge my bets on Branny.

Nelson's fit is interesting i wonder how well his play would translate with pasta and hall as all of 3 of them are more shoot first goal scorers. I'd prefer a pass first playmaker at 2C like what haula is but i would not be disappointed at all if we acquired Nelson. I do love the way he plays and bruins need some bigger power forward bruisers on their team

The way Brannstrom has been playing there should be no chance Ottawa trades him.

The 2nd round pick alone is enough for Brannstrom.

Once Sanderson and Kleven are signed, Brannstrom will fall further down the depth chart and get even less ice time than he is now.

And that's before you include Del Zotto and Mete as competition for the 2nd and 3rd spots on LD.

I can't say that Brannstrom's time in Ottawa has inspired much hope either.

Pierre Dorion and DJ Smith might have other ideas for the offseason.

Take Yamamoto and Bellows, add another 2nd and you have a deal.

Yamamoto is slightly better than Bellows but he would also bring speed to the lineup. The forward group is way too slow right now, and that’s with two elite skaters (Beau and barzal)

Oh, I'd want Yamamoto if he became available to us, but I don't want to give up Bellows to get him.

I can almost guarantee that Bellows will be traded by the offseason. Trotz does not like him, he would have never gotten this look if it weren’t for injuries /covid and he’ll be a healthy scratch once again when palmieri is healthy

I hope you're wrong. I've been very impressed with Bellows when I never really was before. He should be playing over Palmieri. And either way, he should be our 3LW next year after Parise leaves/retires. Trotz just said he doesn't like Bellows and Barzal together, which I understand.

I'd give him a shot with Nelson at some point if they shake the lines up. Nelson strangely plays very well with goal-scorers rather than playmakers (Lee, Beau, Wahlstrom).

Bellows started out as the 13 F , after Covid + injuries he was still only getting 7-8 min a night and contributing in key moments . Martin should be a healthy scratch and Parise should be on the 4th line IMO.

The minute I saw Bellows on his off wing with Barzal I knew what was going on. That was never going to work, Bellows doesn’t play Rw and it was always going to take multiple games for them to develop chemistry. It was done so Trotz has an excuse to demote him/healthy scratch when everyone is healthy. I hate it, but that’s the way Trotz operates.

I think Lou/Trotz are happy because Bellows is increasing his trade value, i wouldn’t mind keeping him but I also think it’s a good idea to trade him for a young forward with speed. The isles desperately need more speed in their forward group

Palmieri isn’t even healthy and Bellows is still a healthy scratch. Putting him on the 1st line was setting him up to fail
