I like the idea of getting Schneider but I don't see why we would take on Zajac? That contract will def make it harder to sign the kids and Lowry has been solid as a 3C guy.

not hard to resign the kids at all actually. Still have 7.5M in CAP space, Enstrom, Little, and Mathias all come off the books next year (12.57M) when Trouba, Morrisey, Ehlers need contracts which is total of 20+M available CAP to sign Trouba (8x8M) Morrisey (6x6M) (Ehlers 6x6M) which is 20M. The following year when Laine, Connor, and Roslovic need contracts is when things get tricky. Now somebody is going to have to be moved I think that's inevitable but you could also move out some of the Vets like Buff, Wheeler, to free up the room to sign those guys. Or sign just the one and trade the others for picks and prospects. Either way the gang won't be able to be kept together forever and the Jets will have to be like the Hawks and move out good players because they can't afford them all but if they win a cup in the next 3 years while Laine is still on ELC no one will care and with this roster they very well could do it!

That 5.75M could go a long way in 2 years at which point Zajac will be 33 and he's already a 15 goal guy on the third line, just seems like why create a bad cap scenario when you have a significantly cheaper option in Lowry who will be 25 and is putting up the same goal totals as Zajac this year?

I agree that they do not need Zajac. I do like them getting Schneider tho, he would be a big upgrade and then they still have Comrie coming up who some say is better than Hellebuyck. I also think Ehlers will want more than 6 million per year, if you looked at points alone Scheifele went 34, 49, 61 in his first 3 years. Ehlers is 38 and 61 so far this year. If he keeps producing i could see him wanting 7 or 7.5 a year. Scheifele at 6.125 is such a bargain for what he is becoming.
