Initial Creation Date: Jan. 20, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Depth additions are probably the limit. If the Canes add another top 6 winger, this wagon is going to kill someone in the playoffs. But the 1 thing I do not think they should do is go past this for Klingberg. If they want more, you leave him to rot in Dallas and walk away in free agency.

They do not need Klingberg, they need a 2LW so Teravainen can move back to his preferred RW slot.

CAR doesn't do the Klingberg trade for that price. CAR will need the cheap contracts when they have to resign their top players this offseason. Should be a smaller depth move imo.

No his record has been pretty good this season… 5-2-1 if I remember correctly. He has just been a little injury prone this season.

Well in that case, the Canucks take this and run if Halak is willing to waive

The more i research, I pass on Klingberg. His underlying numbers aren’t good.

Take out one of Bokk or Suzuki & add a 1st. I don't see Dallas trading Klingberg without recouping a 2022 or 2023 1st Round Pick in return.

Nope, Carolina have already publicly stated that they will not trade 1sts in future drafts when they do not know what the team will look like because it's awful asset management. As I said in the description, if it's more than this, Carolina walks away. There's already no reason to pick up a 5v5 blackhole for that kind of price.

I don't even want him, but ever other Canes ACGM has them picking up Klingberg so I joined in.

klingberg's defense is worse than TDA's this season. Go get Colin Miller and save the prospect capital. Klingberg is just a name at this point.

Klingberg's a PPQB which the team could use. He'd need a babysitter, but we do have both Slavin and Pesce who are capable of babysitting 5v5 liabilities

We need a 2nd RHS defender that we can trust in defensive situations. Bear and TDA are both negatively rated defensively. On top of that, paying that much for another PPQB is beyond bad. Add in that he is barely above replacement level because his defense is that bad. It becomes one of the worst deals made.

Rot in Dallas? Carolina isn’t the only option out there. I don’t think they’ll let him walk. Sign and trade maybe. It’s more difficult than just trading someone, but I don’t think he’ll just walk.

Yes, it's not ideal, but he's SO good on the PP that it gives them 2 units that could genuinely score.

As the playoffs come, the whistles are swallowed. We need ES defenders not PPQBs.

Really?

Carolina outscored Tampa Bay at 5v5... the difference in that series? Tampa converted 57% of their man advantages. Carolina converted 12%

The PK is the best in the league right now. My point was special teams can make all the difference. Adding some PP scoring would make the team more dangerous

Dallas trade isn't happening without a 1st. Not even going to consider it. Pass.

Fine, you won't get an unprotected 1st in a future draft for a 5v5 liability and a pure rental.
