I think we could probably get more than a third for Risto. NHL GMs are dumb and will overpay

Winnipeg doesn't have the cap space and definitely doesn't have a need for Ristolainen.

For starters, the cap isn't what is shown here as cap is calculated on a per day basis. Second, they had interest in him last offseason and definitely could use the cheap depth.

I think there’s a lot of possible options for rentals for the Rangers that they will improve at their price. I would love Giroux tho

Because the Jets kicked the tires on him last off season before the Jets improved their defense doesn't mean they're still be interested now. Ristolainen would be 4th on the right side for the Jets and is a rental that isn't going to have any bearing on Winnipeg's fortunes this season.

It's a waste of an asset for Winnipeg giving up a 3rd for a player that brings nothing that Winnipeg needs or wants. Ristolainen just gets in the way of younger, better prospects that the Jets should be giving ice time to.

You are 4 points out of a playoff spot with a bunch of games in hand. Not really the time to be testing prospects. Also, moving Schmidt to 2LD is probably not a bad idea considering what you currently have there.

Ristolainen simply isn't an improvement on anything the Jets currently have. It's not worth moving anyone around to try and fit Risto in on the bottom pairing. I'd rather the Jets play Chisholm and Samberg on the left side over Ristolainen on the button pairing. The Jets just wouldn't have any interest.
