Deadline Sales

Created by: bluspy88
Team: 2021-22 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 20, 2022
Published: Jan. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just to preface, this is more of an idea of who could be moved and for what. I doubt all oft these happen especially Chychrun, but just interested in who can/will be moved and fit.

Holl's NTC would be an obstacle here, but lets assume he waives or maybe even Arizona flips him again. There are a few other pieces like Roussel, Lyubushkin, and maybe even Ghost that I am unsure if they are moved and to where.
Trades
1.
ARI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Very similar to Goodrow trade, possible more is added as he is younger
2.
ARI
  1. Hájek, Libor
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Kessel, Phil
Additional Details:
I think this would work cap wise if I read the site's estimation right? Only reasoning for not retaining is they may want to use that spot to pick up more picks
3.
ARI
  1. Tippett, Owen
  2. Vatrano, Frank
  3. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Vatrano is mostly for cap reasons, I think they would be cutting it close without moving some money out. Not a knock on him, I know he's been good for them.
4.
ARI
  1. 2022 4th round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Boyd, Travis
Additional Details:
Has been playing pretty well on a bad team. Doesn't have to be Boston, just came to mind as a playoff team looking for bottom 6 scoring
5.
ARI
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. Ritchie, Nick
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2022 7th round pick (TOR)
  5. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
The 2nd is mostly since they want to dump Holl and Ritchie along with retaining on Stralman.
TOR
  1. Larsson, Johan
  2. Strålman, Anton ($2,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
They may have to waive someone to get the 200k or so difference in overages but I think that is doable.

Taking on straleman alone would have all those picks going back to the leafs. He's terrible. Then throw in the fact that the leafs have zero need for Larsson, who isnt even much of an upgrade on ritchie, this makes no sense.
Not a single desirable piece, and they certainly arnt paying the coyotes to get worse

Ranger trade is fine. Arizona could and should get more for Chychrun than that.

Agree on not taking the trade, disagree on Larsson. Solid defensive bottom 6 F comfortable at center or wing, who is producing points. Could be good on the Kampf checking line allowing TOR to move Kase up in the lineup if an injury were to occur. That said I wouldn't pay much more than a 4th round pick

except he;s not solid defensivly and he's producing at a pierre engvall level numbers while getting almost 20 mins a night with significantly better linemates

Boston does not have a need for Boyd. They are hard after Crouse. He might get a 1st but comparing him to Goodrow is not really fair. Goodrow played all 3 FW positions and is really good defensively and on the PK. Also had another year on his deal. Things Crouse is not. Crouse is more like a better Nick Ritchie. A bidding war might push him into 1st territory. 2nd and mid level prospect is more his value.

I agree with you that Goodrow made sense looking now, but I think the general layman consensus at the time was "WTF?" Crouse is also a RFA when it expires, which should bring price up too similar to how Goodrow and Coleman had term before going to UFA.

Your comments are very confusing to me. Leafs fans include Holl and Engvall in every trade proposal because they want them gone, but then when there are proposals that would replace or move them suddenly they are either 1.) Undervalued and we need more (Holl) or 2.) "Well that player is just as bad as the player we have now, but that player would get a good return if we did trade him".

Ya there was a lot of WTF. But Boston was hard after both those guys. TB overpaid to price them out of the market and kept them from someone that would be an obstacle. Was brilliant move actually. Those were 2 guys built for playoff hockey.

Or leafs fans are over reacting and think just because worse players are on other teams they are better and im pointing out that they leafs players are actually decent and have value

check the numbers again... over an 82 game pace Larsson is on pace for 47 points on a garbage team, engvall on pace for 31. And he is solid defensively. Yes to Larsson, no to the trade proposed

Yes, hes producing numbers that engvall would produce in similar circumstances. If engvall was getting similar icetime and linemates that could score anyway at all

Goodrow had two more years of 800k contract when we traded for him, so this is not similar

he plays with Kase or Mikheyev or Spezza, all of whom are producing. I would personally be shocked if Engvall ever put up 40-45 points

If he only ever gets 4th line minutes probably not, but then neither would larsson if he played 4th line minutes
