      avs decline,

Kuemper and MAF are very similar, why are the avs making this move and not gaining anything out of it while Edmonton benefits from the better goaltending option.

The theory behind this is that MAF is the better goaltender and that MAF has edmonton on his No Trade list. You cant argue that MAF hasnt been better the last couple years. In order to upgrade their goaltending edmonton would pay dearly and colorado would essentially be making the kuemper/MAF trade for free.

But why would the Avs make that swap for free, it doesn't benefit them, it helps Edmonton a team in the west to do so. So the Avs marginally upgrade in net if that while helping out a playoff rival in the oilers? I dont see why they are in the business of helping out the Oilers. They would need to get some compensation to assist.

they are more than happy to ride with Kuemper and Frankie, they dont need to go out and change their starter

I think that when you are the AVs you do anything to win in the playoffs and MAF could steal a series where i dont think Kuemper does. It has nothing to do with helping edmonton its about making sure no more assets are used and Kuemper comes off the books. As of now edmonton is not in the conversation of making the playoffs so you can't worry about that.

      MAF SV% Last 4 Years:
      18-19: 0.913
      19-20: 0.905
      20-21: 0.928
      21-22: 0.916

      DK SV% Last 4 Years:
      18-19: 0.925
      19-20: 0.928
      20-21: 0.907
      21-22: 0.908

"You cant argue that MAF hasnt been better the last couple years." DK played behind a truly awful Arizona team last year and hasn't found his footing in Colorado yet. Same is true for many goalies who switch teams (e.g., Grubauer in Seattle). Aside from DK's injury history, there is literally no reason for the Avs to do this.

Arizona was a bad team but they had very good defensemen there are thoughts that kuemper's SV% might have even been exaggerated last year. This whole trade idea is not mine the media have said that Colorado has checked in on MAF.

there is only 1 goalie that plays, avs have other needs that messing around in the net trying to min max their starter while making edmonton exponentially better in net

I dont see the benefit for COL. Kuemper and Fleury are almost equal goaltenders, Id rather just give Kuemper more time to settle in and get comfortable in COL. Hes been pretty good recently

Plus keeping Kuemper gives them a better shot at extending him in the offseason. Fleury at age 37 is not a long term goalie

GMs always check in on players, doesnt mean they are actively trying to make a move. If a GM isnt calling other teams about players and their values doing their leg work, then they arent really doing their job
Sakic also checked in on Eichel and Dubois when they were available, doesnt mean they were serious in making the move

Can't say I agree with you on Arizon'a defense outside of Jakob Chychrun and OEL (who was declining). As for Colorado checking in on MAF, it would be as a 1B to Kuemper, not as a replacement.

@Zmach Per Peter Baugh of The Athletic:
After a 40-save night in Los Angeles, Darcy Kuemper’s season save percentage is up to .912, and check out his numbers since returning from injury Dec. 8:

      • 9-0-1
•.922 save percentage (6th among goalies with 10+ games in that stretch)
      • 8.43 GSAx, per EvolvingHockey (5th)
