Why would the Canucks trade a 1st and 2nd for an aging, declining goalie, who has a terrible contract and may not even play, and would be our backup?

I would've like Armia a few years ago, but I don't want anything to do with that contract. NSH has enough bottom 6 wingers anyway.

Can we delete this please, there is so much wrong here it isn't funny. You made the team worse and somehow screwed up just about every trade. Nashville doesn't need Armia and aren't paying a 3rd if they did. The Grubauer trade is just awful for Montreal, forget that Seattle won't want either of Gally or Hoffman since they are looking to contend in 3+ years not this season or next. Vancouver is not the place for Price and why are we trading him anyway if we want to contend by the end of the retool? No one is paying to take Weber and since he is on LTIR why should we move him when we can use his cap to exceed the cap by his hit? Dvorak has more value than a 3rd (not much but more) and you are trading our 2 best assets for pennies on the dollar plus I don't think NY moves Beauvillier anyways. Then to top off all the madness you give away a top 5 pick plus 2 good prospect plus a 2nd and a 3rd for TYLER FREAKING BURTUZZI?!!! You could get him for a 2nd + Yelonen no need for all the other assets.

I mean, he has the Pens giving up two 2nd round picks for a hockey player who's career ended.

Yeah, but keep in mind that Weber could hold a lot of value to a team needing to reach the cap floor as well as teams (like NAS) who have a ton of space and could put him on LTIR in order to have even more cap space and acquire great players at big cap hit.

You could not get Bertuzzi for a 2nd and ylonen. He's a point per game player playing a tough style of hockey. He's on pace to score 40 goals.... So this value is actually probably closer to right than not. You also said two good prospect la I only see one mediocre prospect and a guy who was a waiver claim so worth basically nothing.

The first part of your sentence makes sense, the second part does not. When a player is on LTIR his cap still counts against the teams cap. They just allow teams to exceed the cap by that amount. No team actually gains extra cap space. But no team will ever give that kind of return for a player to reach the cap floor especially when other teams would probably give up style assets for them to take certain players. Just look at the Boychuk trade.

Lets say NAS have 10 millions of cap space. They could trade for Weber which would then leave them with 2 millions of cap space. Since they can fit him on the cap, they can then put him on LTIR and exceed the cap ceiling by that amount. That would allow them to have theoretically 18 millions of cap space in order to add big time players. Also, they have the extra incentive to acquire Weber in order to have more control over his injury (if he retires before the end of his deal, itll cost NAS around 6 millions per year for 4 years on the cap)

Unfortunately you are incorrect, they are still left with 10M in cap space. Otherwise teams would be paying arms and legs just for guys on LTIR. Weber's cap hit still goes against the cap, they can just exceed the cap by his cap hit is all.

Its still the equivalent of 18 millions of cap space assuming they acquire big contracts… I dont understand why dont see this. If they dont acquire other big names, so be it. If they do want to, they have 10 millions + an extra 8 millions

Ok let's do some math since that's your name...
You start with 10M in cap space you subtract 8M for Weber's contact, now you have 2M in cap space. Then you put weber on LTIR and you then gain 8M of cap space, what does that leave you with? 10M in cap space. Easy peasy.

A Buffalo 3rd has more value than most other teams' 3rds (not much, but more).

Buffalo accepts your offer over complaints from the fanbase. We voted 15-11 against, but who knows . . . It might work out.

It wasn't an offer and a 3rd is still a 3rd no matter where it falls in the 3rd round. The ask would be a 2nd + B prospect and might settle on a 2nd + 3rd
