Retool cuz im a fool is that cool

Created by: HabsFan33
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 20, 2022
Published: Jan. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
looking to see what Kent Hughes could possibly do at the '22 deadline and into the summer for next year. He talked about having a team that was fast, offensive and with character. I think these moves could be feasible and would result in at least (i think) competitive team next year.

1.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
ARI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
self explanatory
2.
MTL
  1. Clurman, Nathan
  2. Ranta, Sampo
  3. Toews, Devon
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
2nd round pick is conditional, if Avs win the Cup in either 2023 or 2024, pick becomes a 2024 top 5 protected 1st round pick.
COL
  1. Norlinder, Mattias
  2. Price, Carey ($4,000,000 retained)
  3. Ylönen, Jesse
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (MTL)
  5. 2022 4th round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Would rather have Girard but know most Avs fans say no. Asking for Ranta has compensation for not getting Girard and retaining $4M (which I think is the most Habs should retain imo)
3.
MTL
  1. 2024 7th round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Arizona will need to reach cap floor next year and at least a few veterans with good work ethic to show the kids the way. Byron, while not a star obviously, is still an NHL player. For one season, low risk and cost for Coyotes.
4.
MTL
  1. Hájek, Libor [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
NYR
Chiarot 2022 deadline with MTL retaining 50%.
    5.
    MTL
    1. Montour, Brandon
    2. Reinhart, Sam
    Additional Details:
Panthers will be tight to the cap next year and beyond with Huberdeau needing new contract for 2023-24 and beyond. Reinhart would get a raise too and they already have too many RHD. Drouin could fit in nicely in the top 6 with less pressure on him because of the stars around him. And FLA still has plenty of C depth.
    FLA
    1. Drouin, Jonathan
    2. Hájek, Libor
    3. Mysak, Jan
    4. 2022 2nd round pick (MTL)
    5. 2022 3rd round pick (ANA)
    6. 2024 1st round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
The 2024 1st round pick is a top 10 protected. MTL gets a top 6 C in Reinhart to take pressure off Suzuki. Montour gives us a mobile RHD that can provide a little more offense than Savard but can still defend well in his zone.
    6.
    MTL
    1. Allard, Frédéric [RFA Rights]
    2. 2022 3rd round pick (LAK)
    NSH
    1. Weber, Shea
    2. 2022 6th round pick (MTL)
    3. 2023 7th round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
So, I don't think Weber ever plays again. Whether it's the doctors that say it or him not wanting to go through rehab at 36, MTL thanks him for his service and decides to move on. If Weber does decide to retire officially, NSH is on the hook for a significant recapture penalty (MTL is not that large). With that said, sending him back to NSH so that they can convince him to not file the retirement papers just yet, leave him on LTIR and have him mentor the young guys.

Toews alone has much more value than Price. That’s a terrible deal for them

Appreciate the effort here but the Price trade just isn't happening, AT THE VERY LEAST, until Price comes back from injury and plays Vezina worthy. The Weber situation just isn't quite as big of a deal as people make it out to be too.

All of that to save like 3 million in cap savings. Not worth it. They’ll trade hornqvist and the cap will raise just hair to let them just get bye for one more year.

If you take out everything going to Montreal, Colorado still says no.
Florida is a hard no as well.
Only reasonable trade is the new York one and I don't even know if they will actually be buying a LD at the deadline.

Rangers say yes, and no need to retain in that trade

You're right, Avs fans won't accept a trade of Girard for Price. Now bear in mind that Toews is better than Girard, do you honestly think they're suddenly going to accept that? Add to that the zero interest in Price and it's an easy no!!!
